Subject: GUIDELINES FOR WRITING SYNOPSIS

All the Probationary Officers of 51st CTP are required to adhere to the following
guidelines for writing synopsis of the Extension Lectures / Panel Discussions: -
a. For each extension lecture / panel discussion, two Probationary Officers from
each Group will write the synopsis. Names / AS Number of Probationary
Officers required to write the synopsis will be notified. The format of the synopsis
is enclosed at Annex-A.

b. The synopsis must be written in past tense and in indirect speech.

c. It must cover both the main points of the guest speaker’s discourse as well as those
brought out in the Q & A session under the captions “Part-1” and “Part-2”,
respectively as given in the format.

d. Probationers should avoid commenting on the view point of the guest speaker.

e. All nominated probationers will forward synopsis to Additional Director (P&C)

on the email address coordination51ctp@gmail.com and copy to Group In-charge
before midnight same day.

f. Synopsis received after the given deadline will be treated as violation and will be
duly recorded in pen picture.

g. The synopsis should be around 1000 typed words. The font style for text is Times
New Roman, font size 12 and for heading 16.

Evaluation of Synopsis:

h. The assessment of the synopsis will be made on the following two aspects (equal
weightage):

(i) Ability to communicate effectively;

(ii) Ability to pick out essential points of the lecture.
