Yesterday was the opening of Ryedale Wildlife park. It was a huge event and lots of people
were there. Charles Ryedale opened the park in the morning and lots of people came to the
park all day. There are lots of animals to see there, but the park is not completely full yet.
There are monkeys, ostriches and bears, but some of the big animals, like elephants and
giraffes, are going to arrive later this month. At the event, there was a band and lots of food
and drink from the park’s cafeteria. Yesterday was just the grand opening; the park is going

AMAZING FACTS
The world’s most expensive pair of shoes was made in United Arab Emirates in 2018. The shoes are called the
Passion Diamond Shoes and they cost $17 million. They have diamonds all over them and they took nine months to
make.
In 2007, a family bought a small bowl at a garage sale in New York. They put it above their fireplace and thought
nothing of it for years. Later, they discovered that the bowl was over a thousand years old and they sold it for $2.2
million.
The longest scarf in the world is 54.29 km long. It was made by the volunteers and friends of Ty Hafan, the Children’s
Hospice in Wales. They started making it in May 2002, and they finished it almost three years later in June 2005.
