SKETCHES

Juan S. MEJIA

Juan S. MEJIA
Student at the National School of Architecture of
Strasbourg, France.

I am honored to present to you a comprehensive compilation of meticulously crafted

drawings from my first year of architectural studies at the renowned school in Strasbourg.

Each drawing was created on-site, capturing perspectives in their real environment. My
works mainly cover sites in France and Switzerland, with a few representations from Boli-
via and parts of Germany. However, the majority of my pieces focus on the Alsace region in
France.

During my first year at the School of Strasbourg,

I embarked on exploring the basics of the art of
drawing. It is worth noting that my early forays into
this field were marked by a lack of skills and funda-
mental knowledge necessary for creating illustra-
tions. However, over time and under the guidance
of my esteemed instructors, I developed and honed
Sketches made at: The Chapel of Le Cor- specific skills aimed at refining my line work and
busier, Notre-Dame du Haut in Ronchamp, expressing various artistic ideas more fluidly. This
France period coincided with my beginnings in the field of
architecture, where drawing played a crucial role in
rapidly generating conceptual ideas and architectu-
ral projects.

During this training phase, I devoted particular

attention to mastering perspective, which became
my predominant skill. Sustained efforts in this area
led to a noticeable improvement in the quality of my
work. Although the beginnings were challenging,
a growing passion for drawing quickly developed,
especially when creating panoramic perspectives of
urban landscapes.

Throughout my studies, I built up a repertoire of

drawings, each reflecting my evolving artistic skills.
I am delighted to present a selection of these works
in this portfolio, illustrating the culmination of my ef-
forts and the progression of my artistic development.

I hope you enjoy these drawings and that you can

perceive through them the inherent beauty and
perspective in the art of drawing.
