damage to the machine.

ATTENTION: This word indicates special technical instructions that, if not observed, can cause malfunction, damage
to the machine and even risk of injury.

ATTENTION: This word indicates special technical instructions that, if not observed, can cause damage to the ma-
chine and imminent risk of injury, and even death.

Displacement or transportation of the machine

In cases where the machine needs to be moved to another location to perform maintenance observe rules such as:

• Prefer the use of trucks to transport the machine, especially when it comes to public roads.

For transporting the machine towing it with the tractor:

• Seek information about what is allowed and the order recommended by the local traffic authorities.
• For operations performed by default of the current regulations, the consequences must be borne by the operator.

When displacement with the tractor is allowed:

• Use alerting devices, such as flags, slow vehicle emblems, lights, etc., approved by the current local traffic laws.
Keep these devices clean and in good condition.
• Practice speeds compatible with the road conditions and traffic, but never exceeding 12.5 MPH (20 km/h).
Reduce the speed considerably when the surface is uneven.

NOTE: Do not transport the machine loaded: supply the seed at the planting site.

• Use the brake pedals of the tractor for a smooth braking.

• Be careful with the power grid, trees, crossing points of restricted width and other obstacles.
• Never allow people on the machine while moving it.

For maintenance services performed with the Seeder coupled onto the tractor.
For many maintenance tasks, especially those performed in the field, it is convenient to leave the Seeder coupled to
the tractor to ensure the firmness and stability of the machine. In addition:

• Remove the ignition key.

• Engage the first gear and actuate the parking brake.
• Put a sign next to the tractor panel:

INTRODUCTION

Care taken with hydraulic systems and fluids under pressure in general
• Fluids escaping under pressure can penetrate the skin,
causing injury and serious poisoning; fluids injected into
the skin must be surgically removed as soon as possi-
ble, as they may cause gangrene.
• To check for leaks, use a piece of paper or cardboard,
not body parts.
• If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately.
• Wear protective gloves and goggles when working with
hydraulic systems.

BAIL14SE00801AH 17

Avoid fires
• Keep a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit always at hand
also Keep emergency numbers for doctor, ambulance,
hospital and firefighter near the phone.
• Never allow open flame or welding near fluids,
flammable gases, paints, solvents and other!
• Do not smoke at the work place. There is always the
risk of fire due to the wide range of flammable products.
• When welding, remove any flammable products from
near the area to be welded, such as fuels, solvents or
lubricants.

BAIL14SE00801AJ 18

Chemicals and the Environment

• Being exposed to or come into contact with chemical pesticides, coolant, lubricants, paints, decals and others, can
be harmful to your health.
• Protect yourself from the waste or gases of chemical products derived from the treatment of seeds.
ATTENTION: See a doctor immediately if you notice symptoms of poisoning such as headaches, sweating, nausea,
vomiting, abdominal cramps, weakness, profuse salivation, chest tightness, blurred vision and nonreactive pupils.
Take the container or, at least, the label of the suspected chemical product. Manufacturers of these products provide
a phone number for contact at any time if in doubt.

47918066 10/09/2015
9
INTRODUCTION

• Before disposing of used fluids and lubricants, always

remember the environment: Do not pour or spill these
products on the ground or water, or place them in con-
tainers that could cause leaks.
• Dispose of oils, solvents, paints and other products ad-
equately, as established in the existing environmental
legislation. Many of these products may offer recycling
alternatives.

BAIL14SE00801BC 19

Conditions of the workplace

• At the workshop: separate and organize used and discarded parts; at the first opportunity, take them to collection
points for recycling,
All materials, including tires, currently have recycling alternatives.
• Do not allow the floor of the workshop to get drenched with oil; this is cause for slipping and falling, apart from
compromising the appearance of the workshop. Remember: organization is the mirror of quality for the professional
who works there.
• Provide the necessary illumination in the work area. If necessary, use a portable safety light for working in places
hard to reach and/or with lack of good light.
Regarding the portable lamp, be aware of the insulating conditions of both the electric power cable and the lamp
itself: the heat of the lamp, cables not properly insulated or of poor quality and an accidentally broken bulb are
factors that may cause burns or a fire.

Welding work
• Use the proper PPE for this activity: mask, gloves and
a leather apron.
• In case of electric welding: always seek to connect the
negative electrode near the point to be welded.
• Only perform welding in well ventilated areas to avoid
the concentration of toxic gases and dust.
• Before welding, remove the paint, thus preventing the
formation of toxic gases and dust.
If you cannot remove the paint, use an appropriate
mask to protect against the inhalation of toxic gases.
When sanding surfaces, especially with paint, also
wear a mask.
If you use a solvent to remove the paint, do not forget SEM19101776 20

INTRODUCTION

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
Through the triple control valve (5) assembled on the
machine frame, and the joystick type electric control (6),
attached to the tractor, is possible to select the desired
hydraulic function:
• I — up / down the transport drive wheels.
• II — lift row units (free passage of oil, circuit without
solenoid valve).
• III — moves the drawbar of the machine between the
transport and operation mode.
NOTE: After using the control (6) in position "I or III", re-
turn the control lever to the center position. This will pre-
vent the heating of the control valve coil (6). BAIL14SE00810AZ 6

Disengage the machine of the tractor

1. With the control lever (6) in the central position "II",
raise the row units with remote control.
2. Install locks (7) of the row units.
3. Release pressure in the hydraulic circuit: if the remote
control has the "Floating" position, use it for this pur-
pose. If there is no "Floating", shut down engine and
move the remote control lever for both sides until the
stroke ends.
4. Remove the hoses (4).
5. Lower and lock the support stand.

INSTALLATION OF SNAP RINGS
In the case of Seeger type rings (1) internal or external,
installed and removed with pliers fitted in two holes (2)
check for the correct side in the installation of the rings.

This is because the holes (2) for fitting the pliers (3) are
tapered:
• Correct way of installation: the side with the smallest
diameter of the tapered holes (2) must face the pliers
(3).
Thus, the ring (1) does not escape from the pliers.
• Incorrect way: if the ring (1) was installed with the side
with the largest diameter of the tapered holes facing the
pliers, their tips would be pushed inside out, preventing BAIL14SE00802AP 1
or hindering the coupling.
ATTENTION: Always wear protective goggles when work-
ing with snap rings. The escape of a snap ring from the
plier tips causes a violent fling of the ring!

BAIL14SE00802AQ 2

INSTALLATION OF DOUBLE SPRING PINS

The precaution consists in not to install the two pins with
the slots (r1) and (r2) aligned.
This is especially critical in the case of compartments
containing grease: the aligned slots allow the escape of
grease.
For proper installation, mount the pins with the slots (r1)
and (r2) lagged, as shown in the figure.

INTRODUCTION

BUSHING REPLACEMENT
Bushing removal
• Generally, bushings mounted under interference are re-
moved only when they need to be replaced.
• The removal can therefore be destructive. However,
be careful not to damage the part where the bushing is
mounted.

BAIL14SE00802AS 4

Installing bushings under interference

• The bushings used in Seeders not require the applica-
tion of glue for their installation.
• The ideal thing is to use a press. This way, an aligned
installation and with the necessary force is ensured.
• However, in field situations where a press is not avail-
able, observe the following precautions:
• Use a suitable tool (2) to guide the bushing (3) in its
installation.
• Apart from guiding the bushing, the tool prevents the
bushing from being directly hit with a hammer, which
would cause its deformation and may even impede its
installation, in addition to forcing the disposal of the BAIL14SE00802AT 5
bushing.
• Use a hammer (1) o move the tool (2) and the bushing
(3)
• The part (4) in which the bushing is installed needs to
be lying on a flat, hard surface.
• Check the mounting depth of the bushings: usually, the
end of the bushing must face the surface of the part in
which it is installed; see indication (5).

REPLACEMENT OF SEALS
NOTE: The fundamental care in the installation of seals
consists in not to deform them. This requires the use of
appropriate tools
NOTE: Once removed, the seals cannot be reinstalled:
replace them.

INTRODUCTION

INSTALLATION OF SEALS IN HUBS WITH GREASE FITTING

By introducing grease through the grease fitting (1), the
old grease must be eliminated through the seal (2)
In this case, check for the following:
• Correct installation (2a): seal installed with the seal-
ing lip turned out from the hub: the force of the grease
moves the lip slightly away from the axis, allowing the
outflow of the grease see indication by the arrows.
• Incorrect installation (2b): sealing with the lip inwards,
the passage of grease is prevented. The lip of the seal
is forced against the shaft, not allowing the passage of
grease. With this, the seal will be damaged or forced
out of the housing.
BAIL14SE00802AU 6

• One of the seals is installed with the lip outwards to
allow the exit of old grease.

INTRODUCTION

Seal installation procedure (with lip facing outwards)

It is essential to use a tool (3) which supports the seal by
its rigid base, without causing deformation or damage to
the sealing lip.

Move the seal until the rigid face reaches the bottom of
the housing, but without forcing it.

Observations:
• The displacement of the seal into the housing must be
in an aligned manner. Therefore, it is important that the
tool (3) has an extension that facilitates the alignment.
• Before installing a seal, make sure that the housing is
clean and dry, free of grease or oil.
BAIL14SE00802AV 8
• After installing the seal, grease the seal lip.
• Take care when mounting the shaft that goes through
the seal, especially spline shafts with key slot and an-
other type of edge that can damage the retainer lip.
• Tiny cuts on the lip cause leaks.

INSTALLATION OF SEALS IN HUBS WITHOUT GREASE FITTING

In these cases, the replacement is performed with the dis-
assembly of the hub.

This way, the seal does not have the function of allowing
the outflow of excess grease. Therefore, it is installed with
the lip facing inward (and the flat face outwards).

To install it with the lip inwards:

• See the remarks of the previous item (seal with lip fac-
ing outwards).
• Lay the tool (4) on the rigid (flat) face of the seal (2)
• Typically, the depth of the seal installation must be such
that the flat face is aligned with the outer surface (5) of BAIL14SE00802AW 9
the hub.

REPLACEMENT OR REUSE OF BEARINGS

To decide on the reuse of bearings, the first step is to
perform a thorough cleaning (1).

In step (2) analyze the bearing for damage such as

signs of overheating (bluish surfaces), wear, scratches or
breaks in its rollers or balls, and the surface of the tracks
and other damage.

BAIL14SE00802AX 10

47918066 10/09/2015
20
INTRODUCTION

Also analyze the state of the cage (4).

If everything is in order, make a noise test (3) when rotat-

ing the bearing with the hands, it cannot present metallic
noises and its spinning must be completely smooth.

The slightest irregularity in any of the above determines

the replacement of the bearing.

BAIL14SE00802AY 11

REPLACEMENT OF BALL BEARINGS

Ball bearings are normally made of one piece.

The removal must be done with appropriate pullers, gen-

erally universal type (5) of two or three legs.

BAIL14SE00802AZ 12

For installation
• Never install a bearing applying direct hammer blows
on it!
• Prefer the use of presses for installing bearings. For
field installations, a hammer can be used, however, the
bearing needs to be displaced in an aligned manner by
an appropriate tool.
• Lubricate the bearings before or after their installation.
NOTICE: The force to install the bearing should only
be applied on the track (internal or external) which is
installed with interference.
NOTICE: If the force (of the press or the hammer blows)
is applied on the free track, the balls and cages of the BAIL14SE00803AN 13
bearing could suffer serious damage.
• So to install bearings in holes, press the outer ring, and
to install bearings on shafts, press the inner ring.
• For the installation with both a press or a hammer, the
bearing must be lying on a flat, firm surface and per-
pendicular to the tool or press used in the installation.

21
INTRODUCTION

REPLACEMENT OF ROLLER BEARINGS

These bearings are usually made up of two parts:
• Outer ring (or cup) (1).
• "bearing cone" assembly (2), consisting of the inner
track with the rollers (cylindrical or conical) and the
cage.

Thus, the removal and installation of tapered bearings is

carried out in two parts: the cup and cone.

BAIL14SE00803AO 14

To remove tapered bearing cups

• Normally, the cups are only removed in case of replace-
ment.
• In this case, use pullers (if available) and then, blow the
cup off the housing by means of a pin puller.
• In the latter case, removal can be destructive. However,
take care not to damage the housing.

BAIL14SE00803AP 15

To remove bearing cones

Whenever possible, use universal pullers, of two or three
legs (3)

To install tapered bearing cups and cones

• For the cups (1)), use tools that fit the inner face (track)
or behind the cup, on the longest side.
• To install the bearing cones (2) on axes, use a press
(preferred) or a hammer combined with a suitable tool.
• Never apply hammer blows directly on any parts of a
bearing!
• Also, check the alignment of the installation, done on a
flat, hard and perpendicular surface.

INTRODUCTION

Heating or cooling of parts installed with interference

• In the case of bearings, it is a good practice to heat them
for their installation. The expansion of the heated parts
reduces the force needed for installation, facilitating the
procedure and reducing the chance of damage to them.
• The heating should never be done under the action of
direct fire on the parts. Use oil heated at 80 to 90 0 C
or heating by electrical induction see figure.
• On the other hand, tapered bearing shafts and cups can
be cooled to reduce its diameter, also facilitating their
installation.
• Cooling can be done in freezers or with ice (dry or reg-
ular).
BAIL14SE00803AR 17

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

ASSEMBLY SIDE
• Several components of the machine have parts whose
assembly side must be observed.
• In the row units, such components have a marking, in-
dicating it should be installed on the right side (from the
point of view of who is behind the machine). See ex-
amples in the figure, indicated by the arrows.

BAIL14SE00803AS 18

Bolts in general
In the case of bolts that allow the installation in both direc-
tions, the standard factory installation is from left to right.

INTRODUCTION

IDENTIFYING THE CAUSE OF FAILURE BEFORE DISASSEMBLY

• Whenever possible, focus on making the complete di-
agnosis of the problem before starting disassembly.
• Take the necessary time for good previous planning,
avoiding unnecessary operations and/or part replace-
ments.
• Determine which tools, parts to be replaced and safety
precautions (and PPE) are required for the job.
• Make an overview about the system or component that
failed. See what precisely caused the failure and if
other adjacent components were not affected.
• During disassembly, inspect the parts carefully.
• Clean the parts to be reused. BAIL14SE00803AU 20

DO NOT MIX PARTS

• When disassembling different assemblies, arrange the
pieces separately and logically.
• The ideal thing is to install all the parts in their original
location. There are special parts whose position cannot
be changed. Separate the different bolts and nuts in
"large trays" with divisions.
• The base of the tray, shaped like a grid or perforated
plate, allows the parts to be washed, draining the water
beneath it.

BAIL14SE00803AV 21

CORRECT USE OF TOOLS

• The general rule is: do not improvise! Inadequate tools
and procedures, apart from compromising the quality of
work, can cause injury.

BAIL14SE00803AW 22

24
INTRODUCTION

• Use wrenches correctly: see in the figure the correct

direction of application of force on the lever relative to
the angle of the socket (1).
• Work in the opposite direction causes a greater effort
in the structure of the key. Use this procedure only in
special cases, such as bolts which are hard to access:
in this case, switch positions, not recommended (X) and
recommended (C) of the key until loosening the bolt.

INTRODUCTION

Special tools
The above recommendation, in order not to use improvi-
sation practices, is particularly important in the installation
of parts such as seals, bearings and bushings. For these
cases, it is essential to use devices such as those shown
alongside. The goal is to assemble these components in
an aligned manner and without causing deformation and
other damage.
For installation with a hammer, we suggest adopting a
standard extension (1) for use with the devices.

BAIL14SE00803AL 1

For installation in the press (2) , lay the rod of the press
directly on the device.

tension (1).
Several devices can be manufactured in the workshop it-
self. Typically, one can use the extension (1) together with
these devices, providing proper alignment for the assem-
blies.

BAIL14SE00803BA 3

Device + Extension = Tool

Next are some examples:
1. Standard extension: provides the necessary exten-
sion to guide the devices in an aligned manner. Thus,
the devices can have reduced size, weight and cost.
2. Device for installing tapered bearing cups.
3. Device for installing seals with lip facing outwards.
4. Device for installing seals with lip facing inwards.
5. Device for installing bushings.
6. Device for installing ball bearings with interference in
the shaft: installation force exerted on the inner ring.
7. Device for installing ball bearings with interference in
the housing: installation force exerted on the outer
ring.

Compaction
The NG press wheel (1) performs two operations at the
same time, the seed coverage and compaction.
The coverage is achieved through the return of moist soil
to the furrow. In this return, lateral compaction force is
exerted, eliminating possible air pockets around the seed.

• The pressure on the ground is constant, exerted by the

weights (2).
• The adjustable cleaners (3) are mounted behind the
metal wheels.
NOTE: The press wheels leave the factory mounted in two
ways: left and right, according to the position of the press
wheel in relation to the furrow opener. Example: the left BAIL14SE00801AU 7

Operation and Transportation. For the detailed procedure, see the Operator's Manual.
NOTE: In addition to the precautions mentioned below, note and also follow the recommendations listed in Section 1
of this manual and in the Operator's Manual.
1. Do not allow the persistence of people not involved with
the operation within a radius of 50 meters.
2. If there is a person to assist in the operation, alert him
to not stay close to the drawbar during the move, nor
to put hands in articulated components to try to help,
adjust or release movements.
3. Only make the procedure of changing the mode of
Planter from Operation or Transportation, on flat
ground, level and firm.
4. Moving between the machine and tractor drawbar
needs to be free, however, not subject to forces and
upsets caused by the slope of the site in which is BAIL14SE00820AA 1
performed.
5. On the other hand, movements hampered by terrain
and / or obstacles also pose risks to the operation!
6. When handling the support stand never leave body
parts underneath them.
7. For moving the drawbar through the cylinder (1) , do
not increase the engine speed either: instead, seek to
generate smooth and progressive movements with the
remote control.
8. Failure to observe this caution causes sudden move-
ments, which can cause damage and / or accidents to
the equipment!

Machine completion - Transform A) PLACING THE MACHINE IN

TRANSPORT MODE
1. Always install the arm lock (2) of both drive wheels ac-
cording to instructions in the following sections.
2. Read carefully the instructions on the correct use of
brakes of the transport drive wheels, avoiding uncon-
trolled machine and major accidents!
3. Do not exceed the speed of 9 MPH (15 km/h) when
moving the Seeder.

BAIL14SE00820AB 1

4. Avoid disengage the tractor with the machine in trans-

port mode.
5. And when parking the tractor and seeder assembly,
set hand parking brake of both transport wheels. For
this, move the lever (3) in the direction indicated by the
arrow until the full application of the brake.
6. At this point, the piston rod (4) extends to allow the drive
of the arm (5) .

BAIL14SE00820AC 2

7. Similarly, when to actuate the brake via hydraulic, the

rod (6) of the hand-brake mechanism at the same time,
the driving of the arm (5) .
8. When activated, the arm (5) rotates the cam shaft (9) ,
expanding linings (8) against the internal surface of the
drum (7) .

BAIL14SE00820AD 3

9. After applying the parking brake, lock the lever (3) with
the pin (10) , preventing accidental disengagement of
the brake from occurring.

BAIL14SE00820AE 4

Machine completion and equipment - Machine completion

10. Properly use the emergency brake system, which

causes the machine to stop immediately in case of
accidental disengagement from the tractor.
11. To do this, install a cord between the tractor and the
lever (11) of the safety valve (12) .
12. The supply of pressurized oil, in this case, is provided
by hydraulic accumulators.

NOTE: About coupling the Seeder and preparation for work, see Section 1.
1. With the machine in transport mode, positioned on flat,
level site:
2. Disconnect the safety locks (1) of the row units. To do
this, remove the pin (1a), turn the lock (1) for- ward and
reinstall the pin (1a).

BAIL14SE00820AG 1

3. Drive wheels locks: for planting, remove the drive

wheels locks for the work wheels to articulate freely.
Lower the machine until the work wheels rest on the
ground, enough to release the pins and facilitate its
removal.
Remove the pin (2a) and position the lever (2) up hold-
ing it again with the pin (2a) in storage position. Thus,
the lock (2) will not interfere with the stroke of the drive
wheel arms.

BAIL14SE00820AI 2

4. Lift the lock (3) , turning it completely backwards: see

the direction indicated by the arrow.
5. In Transport mode, this lock retains the drawbar (4)
against the frame of the machine, on the front left cor-
ner.
6. Make sure there are no people, animals or obstacles
near the turning radius of the machine.

7. With the tractor's transmission in neutral and the brakes

free, actuate the hydraulic cylinder (5) to re- tract the
rod: the machine will start turning to working position.
8. For this movement of the machine, it is necessary that
the drive wheels are on the ground, however, without
finding obstacles for the movement.
9. Operate the remote control carefully until the drawbar
beam (4) fits on the end fork of the articulated auxiliary
arm (6) .

BAIL14SE00820AK 4

NOTE: During the turning of the machine, the arm (6) is positioned for engagement by the rod (7) .
10. During machine movement the locking hook (8) must
remain in the position shown.

1. With the machine in Operation mode and positioned on
flat, level ground:
2. Raise the row units completely and install the row
safety locks (1) .

BAIL14SE00820AO 1

3. To do this, turn the lock (1) backward and connect it to

the arm (1b) with the pin (1a) .
4. Also connect both locks (2) of the drive wheels, in-
stalling mounting pin (2a) to the wheel arm.
5. The locks (2) can be connected in two stages (1st) and
(2nd)
6. Preferably, connect it to the first stage for the drive
wheels to be farther from the ground when the ma-
chine is being transported.
NOTE: Use transport drive wheels to raise or lower the
machine to install the pins (2a) .

BAIL14SE00820AP 2

7. Lift the lock hook (8) , turning it completely backwards

as indicated by the arrow.
8. In operation mode, this hook holds the drawbar (4) to
the auxiliary articulated arm (6) .
9. Actuate the transport drive wheels hydraulic control,
lowering the wheels to the ground. This is essential so
that when starting the machine's turn, it remains level.
10. Make sure there are no people, animals or obstacles
near the turning radius of the machine.

Machine completion - Pre-assemble

1. The correct locking and retention of the beam (2) of
the drawbar, in the operation and transport modes, de-
pends on the correct setting of the components listed
below.
2. The whole system is factory adjusted. However, there
are cases where a correction may be necessary.
NOTE: The adjustment of these components interfere with
each other. Thus, adjust one component at a time and in
small increments.
3. After that, check its operation and, if necessary, im-
prove the adjustment or perform the regulation of an-
other component. BAIL14SE00820AV 1

4. Retention hook and locking of the drawbar in Opera-

tion mode
5. In the locked position (hook lowered, as shown in the
figure), a minimal "F" gap must remain, so the beam
(2) remains securely and correctly aligned during oper-
ation.

BAIL14SE00820AW 2

6. To adjust: If you need to reduce the gap "F", move the

spacer washers (1b) the position shown, to underneath
the nuts (1a) .
7. Stop bolt: The bolt position (4) determines the point
where the beam stop (2) occurs in the arm (3) , i.e.
advanced or retracted.
8. To adjust: Loosen the locknut (4a) and rotate the bolt
(4) as needed.
9. After obtaining the correct adjustment, re-tighten the
locknut.

Machine completion and equipment - Machine completion

10. Rod for angular positioning of the auxiliary arm (3) .

11. The variation of the length of this rod allows you to
change the positioning of the arm (3) , in operation
mode.
12. For example, if the hydraulic cylinder rod end (6) is
set on the shortest position and the drawbar beam (2)
does not fit completely in the opening of the arm (3)
shorten the rod (5) .
13. To adjust: Disconnect the terminal (5a) and rotate it,
as necessary. Following reconnect it and test opera-
tion.
BAIL14SE00820AY 4

14. Hydraulic cylinder rod:

15. The range of the rod (6) , adjustable by the rod end
(6a) , interferes especially in the correct assembly of
the beam (2) of the drawbar in the receptacle (7) of
the machine frame.
16. This is necessary when putting the machine in trans-
port mode.

BAIL14SE00820AZ 5

17. To adjust:
18. Disconnect the rod end (6a) , removing pin (6b) .
19. Rotate the rod end (6a) as necessary.
NOTE: If necessary, lock the rotation of the cylinder rod
(6) with an appropriate spanner, in the recesses for this
purpose.
20. Connect the rod end again and test operation.
ATTENTION: Always remember to remove people, ani-
mals and obstacles when moving the machine or drawbar.

BAIL14SE00821AA 6

21. Lateral positioning of the assembly's support stand (8)

.
22. Under certain conditions, the support (8) can interfere
with the beam (2) of the drawbar, preventing full fit in
the receptacle (7) .
23. In this case, the solution is to move the support stand
assy (8) to the right of the machine, as indicated by
the arrow.

SYSTEM OPERATION
Normal operation:

When pressing the tractor service brake pedal, this re-

leases a hydraulic flow for a specific port on the back
where the hose (M1) is connected.

This flow passes through the valve (3) directly to the cylin-
ders ( (C1) and (C2) )through hoses (M4) , (M5) and (M6)
.

Operation in case of emergency:

The cord (2) connects the valve lever (6) with tractor.

If accidental disengagement of the machine from the trac- BAIL14SE00821AL 1

tor occurs, the cord is pulled rotating the lever (6) , which
then is released from the valve shaft (3) .

The valve (3) directs the pressurized oil flow contained

in the accumulator (4) to the cylinders (C1) and (C2) ,
through hoses (M4) , (M5) and (M6) .

The Seeder is braked instantly.

To reset the system, after discharge of the accumulator
(4) occurs

After hitching the machine to the tractor, reinstall the lever

(6) in the valve shaft (3) .

Turn the lever (6) counter-clockwise until the end of the

stroke (see arrow).

Push in the button (7) .

BAIL14SE00821AL 2

With the engine running and the hose (M1) connected to

the tractor, press the brake pedal: the hydraulic system of
the tractor recharges the accumulator circuit (4) through
the hose (M3) .

This is confirmed by the return of the button (7) , that is, it

moves out of the valve.
ATTENTION: It is recommended that the machine is not
disengaged when in the transport position.

Using the parking brakes:

NOTE: The parking brake should be activated when there
is need to stop the machine in transport position, along
with the tractor.

In both front and rear brakes:

Move the lever (8) to the right of the machine until you get
a firm brake application.

Lock the trigger (9) in the mechanism and install pin (12)
, ensuring that the parking brake does not disarm.

BAIL14SE00821AN 4

To release the brake, remove the safety pin (12) . After

that, push the lever (8) to the right, lift the trigger (9) to
release it from the mechanism and return the handle (8)
for the home position.

Re-install and locks the pin (12) .

The rod of the cylinder (C) cedes, allowing the rod (10) to
rotate the lever (11) .

BAIL14SE00821AO 5

Likewise, the rod (10) is telescopic and also allows turning

the lever (11) when the hydraulic cylinder (C) is activated.

The lever (11) is connected to the camshaft (13) which

compresses the shoes (14) against the inner surface of
the drum (15) .

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS ON MAINTENANCE OF HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS

CLEANLINESS
• Soon after disconnecting cylinders, protect hoses
and the galleries with adequate caps to prevent the
entry of dirt and water
• Before disassembling hydraulic cylinders, make an
external cleaning of them.
• Do all the maintenance work in clean benches sep-
arate from other activities of the workshop.
• When leaving cylinder disassembled for some time,
cover them to protect against dust.
Furthermore, apply oil on the parts as into housings,
pistons and rods, to prevent oxidation.
• Use suitable tools: improvisations cause damage to
parts and can unusable them.
Small scratches into housing, for example, compro-
mise the sealing.

REPAIR TECHNIQUES
After disassembling a cylinder for service
• Clean all parts in diesel oil or kerosene. Dry with
compressed air, using eye protection.
• Application of ultra fine sandpaper and polishing
cloth inside the housing, with the goal of removing
slight signs of rust or surface scratches. Deep
scratches determine the housing replacement.
• Replacement of the repairs: disassembly and re-
assembly for the replacement of items of the repair
kit is described in specific chapters in this section for
each machine's hydraulic cylinder.
• Features such as chrome bath, grinding and polish-
ing, can be made, but require highly specialized re-
sources.

Make a visual inspection of parts

Factors that determine the complete or partial replace-
ment of the cylinders (components):
• Bent rod: this failure may, in turn, damage the hous-
ing and piston, forcing the replacement of the com-
plete cylinder.
• Deformation (roundness) of the housing: repair at-
tempts are totally ineffective, since it does not close
tolerances necessary to properly seal.
• Oxidation or scratches on components: if superficial,
can be removed with ultra fine sandpaper. Other-
wise, determine the component replacement.
• Inspect the inside of the cylinder housing for
scratches; is found, replace it.
• Check the cylinder rod as warping, wear, scratces
and oxidation.
• Replace parts that show any of the mentioned de-
fects.
NOTE: Before reinstalling cylinders on the machine, check
hoses and connections for the conditions, fixing and clean-
ing.
When in doubt, do an internal cleaning of the entire circuit.

BUSHING REPLACEMENT
• The bushings have to be replaced if excessive wear,
or excessive clearance in relation to the pin.
• The removal can be destructive, taking care, how-
ever, not to damage the housings.
• The installation of the new bushings can be carried
out by means of a hammer or press (preferred).
However, it is essential to use a suitable tool for sup-
porting the bushing at the time of installation.
• Move the bushings until aligning their ends with the
outer face of the respective housing.
NOTICE: The bushings must not obstruct the holes
(F), for the passage of grease, corresponding to the BAIL14SE00507AA 1
grease fittings.
In the case of horizontal bushing (16), the lubrication
hole must coincide with the hole of the respective
grease fitting assembled in the coupling rod (2).
• Replace the grease fittings that are not in perfect
condition.

Straightening
This practice is possible, except in the main compo-
nents, such as stringers (tubes) and structural plates.
To straighten components, heat them using a blow-
torch.

Welding
Cracks or breaks may be welded to recover its strength
characteristics. Observe the related safety precautions
listed in Section 1.

Hydraulic system control - Electrical test

If one of the functions activated by the solenoid valve is
not working, the first step is to check whether the cause
is in the hydraulic circuit or electrical circuit:
A. With the plug (C4) connected to the tractor’s outlet
(13), run the engine and let it idle.
B. Press the pin solenoid (11) or (12)- see arrows,
whose function fails and ask a helper to operate
the remote control:
○ If not works, the problem is related to the hy-
draulic system.
○ If it works, the more likely it is failure in the power
supply or trouble in the solenoid coil. BAIL14SE00832AK 1

ATTENTION: Adopt all safety precautions for this test: not

remain near moving parts and actuate the valves (by pin),
only touches, enough to check the reaction.
(11) - Transport drive wheel's solenoid: function acti-
vated by the "I" position of the control lever.
(12) - Drawbar cylinder solenoid: function activated by
the "III" position of the control lever.

BAIL14SE00907AC 2

Step 1: Power to the Command

Follow the description also by earlier figures:
• The power starts at the current supply from the trac-
tor's electrical outlet (13)of the the terminal # 05 of
the connector (C4).
• This current reaches the Sindal connector (C3) in the
box (5) by the blue cable from the upper harness (6).
• From Sindal connector (C3) through one of cables of
the harness segments in the sequence (4), (3) and
(2), the current reaches the tractor's command (1).
• When returns to the seeder, the current flows
through one of the other two cables of the harness
segments (1), (3) and (4), passing again by the
BAIL14SE00907AD 3
connecting box (5).
• Finally, through the harnesses (9) and (10), the cur-
rent reaches the solenoid (11) and (12), according to
the function activated by command (1).

BAIL14SE00907AB 4

47918066 10/09/2015
55.1 [55.036] / 6
Electrical systems - Hydraulic system control

To check the power of the command:

With (C4) connector plugged in tractor's outlet (13) ,
check for power at 12 VDC connector (C1) of the elec-
tric control.
If not, check:
• If the tractor's electrical outlet (13) is working prop-
erly.
• The harness cables and general power connectors
from the plug (C4) up to the inlet in the box (5), by
harness (6).
In the return power line of the connector box (5) up to
command line (1), check:
• The cables of the harness segments (2), (3) and (4).
• The connectors (C1) and (C2), and connections in
the Sindal connector (C3).
• Refer Turn signal and/or hazard lights - Electrical
test (55.404) about diagnosis on cable and harness.
• If there are 12 VDC power supply into the connector
(C1), go to the next Step:

Step 2: Electrical Power of the Coils

• When moving the control lever (1) to the "I" position,
there should be 12 VDC power to the right coil (11),
that controls the transport drive wheel.
• When moving the control lever (1) to the "III" position,
there should be 12 VDC power to the left coil (12),
that controls the drawbar.
• To check the power of the coils, remove connectors
(C6)*, activate the command to its position and mea-
sure the voltage at upper terminals "1 and 2" inside
the connectors.
NOTICE: * Remove its cross head screws (Phillips).
NOTE: If the power of the command (until the con-
nector (C1)) is normal, there is no problem with the
harnesses and still power of the coils remains absent
(when trigger the command), it is most likely a prob-
lem in the command box (1): replace it.

Step 3: Coil test (11) and (12)

• Remove the connectors (C6), removing its screw
fastening the coils.
• Measure the resistance between coil "1 and 2" ter-
minals, which should be close to 2.6 Ω .
• Another way to test is powering the coil terminals "1
and 2" directly with 12 V, with the aid of a battery
and cables: the solenoid should make a noise of
operation.
NOTE: he polarity of the power supply terminals "1
and 2": inversion between the positive and the neg-
ative will prevent the action of the solenoid.
• If the results of the above tests are no OK, replace BAIL14SE00907AE 5
the coil or the complete valve.

Turn signal and/or hazard lights - Electrical test

In case of failure in any of the lamps, follow the follow-
ing steps:
A. When actuating each function (blinker, turn signal
and brake light), 12 volts should be measured be-
tween the respective poles (positive terminals "+")
and the ground terminal (black).
B. Make sure that there is continuity* between the
"earth" of the Seeder and the ground terminal
(black cable) of each of the indicator lights.
C. There should be no continuity* between the differ-
ent positive (+) terminals, as this would be charac-
terized as a "short circuit".
BAIL14SE00730AA 1
D. There should be no continuity* between cables or
positive terminals (+) and earth or the ground ter-
minals, for the same reason as the previous item.
*Zero resistance or close to zero.

BAIL14SE00731AA 2

If any of the above conditions (A, B C or D) is not sat-

isfied, examine the harness for:
• Circuit "open" or interrupted.
• Circuit with high resistance: usually caused by rusty
or partially broken cables, or rusty contacts and con-
nectors.
• Circuit "grounded": positive cables shorted to
ground (or machine's "earth").
• "Short" circuit between different positive cables:
when actuating one of the indicator lights, another
is activated simultaneously.
• "Short" circuit between a positive lead and ground (or BAIL14SE00729AA 3

machine's "earth"): this failure causes blown fuses

(belonging to the tractor's electrical circuit).

47918066 10/09/2015
55.2 [55.404] / 5
Electrical systems - External lighting

Script Check:
1. Make sure there are no problems in the tractor's
electrical circuit.
NOTE: The fuses that protect this circuit are lo-
cated in the electrical panel of the tractor.
2. Do a quick check for the integrity of the electrical
components, connections, cables and previously
identified connectors.
3. Check for (a) burned lamp(s): replace it (them) if
applicable, following the previous procedure.
4. Check the circuit of the ground cable (black).
5. Detailed checking of wiring harnesses: check them
for apparent damage or defects, such as:
○ Signs of kneading of the harness or cables.
○ Breakage of cables (circuit "open", interrupted).
○ Breakage or excoriation of harness protections
(conduits).
○ Signs of deterioration in harnesses and compo-
nents, caused for example by incorrect machine
storage
○ Routing and fastening of cables: when making a
diagnosis, check the harness in its cable routes
and attachment points. Keep plastic clamps al-
ways handy to fix or redo attachments.
Connectors check
Open the connectors and check them for:
• Rusty contacts: When this defect occurs, it is com-
mon for the system to work again after disconnecting
and reconnecting a plug in the socket.
• Rusty contacts cause high resistance in the circuit
and the consequent malfunction.
• In this case, clean the contacts.
• There are spray products (aerosol) specific for this
purpose.
• Broken or warped contacts: If necessary, replace the
plug and socket assy.
BAIL14SE00832AL 4
• In the case of 10 mm Sindal connectors (3) - figure
above, make sure the lid (3a) of the box is properly
fitted and sealed.

Master clutch - Dynamic description

The clutch connects and disconnects the metering system
by lowering and lifting the machine

When lifting the machine (to maneuver), the clutch is dis-

engaged and when lowering the machine, the clutch is
engaged again, restarting the seed metering.

This control is done by the moving rod (22) and the outer
arm (13).

The rod (22) is connected between the square shaft (21)

raise / lower rows and the outer arm (13).

The static rod (12) is connected between the frame and

BAIL14SE00828AB 1
the inner arm (14).

The upper end of the rod (12) has a slot (R) that allows
to reposition it, to change the action adjust of the clutch:
turning on/off sooner or later.

The lid (20) permits partial access to the clutch.

Metering mechanical drive - Visual inspection

• Inspect with special attention components (10), (13),
(14) and (15), responsible for coupling and uncou-
pling the clutch: excessive wear, cracks and breaks
determine its replacement.
In case of wear, it is recommended to replace these
components together, not in isolation.
• Check the gears (6) and (15) for wear on the teeth,
cracks or breaks.
• Check the chains (5) and (16): in case of wear of
the rolls, lengthening of the pace occurs. Typically,
chains and gears must be replaced together.
• Check the hexagonal shaft (19) for warping: if nec-
essary, replace it. BAIL14SE00828AH 1

• Check the spring (9) breakage, deformation or fa-

tigue signs determine its replacement.
• Ball bearings (2): they must not present noise when
turned with the hand.
The side shields must be in good condition and must
not present much grease leakage.
• In case of mounting new bearings (2), install initially
hex bushings (3), which can be reused of the used
bearings.
Using a press or hammer with suitable device sup-
port under the bearing inner race.
Move the bushing (1) until its recess meets the inner
race of the bearing (2).
Never hit with the hammer directly on the bushing:
deformations can prevent the assembly.
BAIL14SE00828AI 2
• Mounting side of the bushings (2a): the bushing re-
cess should face inward, i.e., to the side of the clutch.
See figures.

the following points:
• In the figures, see the position and mounting side of
all components
• Position and assembly side of the stoppers: Items
(7) and (18) are similar.
• The stopper (8) has specially shaped to fit the spring
(9): note the correct assembly side.
• Shims (11) assembled between the arms (13) and
(14) and bushing (10) and gear (15): keep the origi-
nal amount in each position.
BAIL14SE00828AL 2

Adjusting the Clutch Control Rod

• The rod (12) allows you to adjust the point where the
clutch is on or off.
NOTICE: Important: Couplers (10) and (15) must
gear properly, preventing failures in planting and/or
premature wear of the system.
To adjust:
• Lower the row units up to the position at which the
clutch must be connected, i.e. couplers (10) and (15)
completely engaged.
• Loosen the self-lock nut (26) and move the rod (12)
to the position where the couplers (10) and (15) com-
pletely mesh.
• Re-tighten nuts (26).

Spring pressure (9)

• Moving the stopper (8) against the spring (9) in-
creases its pressure.
Moving the stopper (8) to get it away from spring,
decreases its pressure.
• The pressure must be sufficient to ensure the dis-
placement of the notched bushing - or coupler (10)
when meeting the gear (15).
• Use dimension "L" as a reference. See figure above.

NOTE: The maximum cutting capacity is found when the

machine tends to rise from the wheel drive, depending on
the pressure exerted on the rows.
NOTE: In conventional planting or soft soil, counterweights
(8) can be removed from the inside of the rear tube (9).
NOTE: The essential condition for the correct adjustment
of furrow openers penetration and planting depth is the lev-
eling of the machine in relation to the ground. leveling is
set and maintained by the height of the bar (10) coupling
of the tractor.

BAIL14SE00634AA 3

SPRING PRESSURE ADJUSTER POSITION

The cylinder stroke is adjusted by the stopper (1) with
six positions that increase or reduce the pressure of the
triple springs on the row arms where the furrow openers
are mounted. To adjust, press lock (2) and move the
stopper (1) up to the desired depth. Release the lock,
by fitting it into the stopper.

NG TYPE PRESS WHEEL

The NG press wheel performs the seed coverage and
compaction at the same time. The press wheels leave
the factory mounted in two ways: left and right, accord-
ing to the position of the press wheel in relation to the
furrow opener.
For example, left press wheel is the one that performs
compaction on the left side of the furrow opener, same
for the right press wheel.
The rows must be installed so that the press wheels
(D) and (E) remain always on the side opposite to the
gauge wheels.
If the machine is not mounted incorrectly, you must dis-
assemble the depth control ring and switch sides so that
compaction is done on the side opposite to the gauge
wheel, for a better functioning of the system.

Seeding tool - Visual inspection

Clean the components of the hubs, except for the
shielded bearings (4): if they were cleaned with diesel
oil or kerosene, the grease will suffer contamination
and dilution, forcing the replacement of bearings.
• Inspect the bearings (4): they should not present
noise when rotated or grease loss through the
shields.
• Check disks (11) and (15) for warping, breaks,
cracks or excessive wear.
Not showing any of these problems, they can be
sharpened and reused. The larger disks are sharp
on both sides and the smaller disks, on the outer side
only.
• Never use disks of a diameter different from the orig-
inal one.
• Replace the "O" ring (7).
• Check the support (13) for breaks, cracks and dam-
age to the fastening threads of the shaft-bolts (6).
• Check the other components, replacing what is dam-
aged.

Seeding tool - Assemble

Perform the following procedure on both disks and
hubs:
ATTENTION: To work with coulter disks, always wear ap-
propriate gloves.
1. With a press or suitable tool and hammer, install the
bearing (4) Mounting side of the bearings (4) : the side
of the metal shield should be facing down, considering
the hub (3) in the position alongside.
NOTE: Do not grease on the bearing on this side, i.e. next
to the retaining ring (5) This grease can contaminate the
existing grease in the bearing.
2. Install the retaining ring (5).
NOTE: Refer to Section 1 about the correct procedure for
mounting bearings, retaining rings and others.
3. On the side opposite to the hub (3) i.e. on the side in
which the disk is bolted, apply a thin layer of grease as BAIL14SE00658AA 1

shown.
4. Make the connection of the disk to the hub (3).
NOTE: Mounting side of the disks (11) and (15) the coun-
tersunk side (Y) of the passing holes of the bolt (14) should
be left inwards, i.e. between the two disks.
5. On the opposite side, install the lock washers and nuts
(16) tightening them in stages and in a cross, in order
not to deform the disk.

7. Pre-assembly of adjustment locks (1).

8. In the hub with the larger disk, install 3 adjustment locks
(1).
9. In the hub with the smaller disk, install 2 shims (1).

BAIL14SE00661AA 6

10. Install the disk and hub pre-installed in the support

(13) observing the following:
11. The bolts (14) should remain inside the disks, i.e. fac-
ing the support (13).

BAIL14SE00662AA 7

12. Bolt (6) on the right side has (X) marks in its hexagonal
head. The thread of this bolt is the "right" type.
13. Bolt (6) on the left side does not have markings and
its thread is the "left" type.
14. The recommended torque for the tightening of M18
bolts (6) is of 176.5 to 215.7 N.m (130.2 to 159 lb.ft).

Adjustment:
15. After installing the two hub and disk assemblies on the
support (13) check the clearance between the disks at
the most closed point, with a feeler gauge.
16. The clearance (or opening) at this point should be of
0.012 to 0.031 in (0.3 to 0.8 mm).
17. If necessary, change the number of adjustment shims
(1) in the hub of the smaller disk.
18. After obtaining the clearance adjustment between
disks, do the final assembly.

BAIL14SE00664AA 9

19. Install the "O" ring (7).

NOTE: Ensure the correct fitting of the ring in the groove.
A thin layer of grease can be applied* to the ring for it to
remain in place.
*As recommended, no grease must be applied to the
bearing on this side.

BAIL14SE00665AA 10

20. On the "O" ring, install the hub cap (8) and then the
retaining ring (9).
NOTE: Depending on the "O" ring, the hub cap must be
pressed inwards to allow the installation of the retaining
ring (9).
21. Apply a thin layer of grease under the hub cap (8) just
enough to prevent damage to the "O" ring and help
the seal.
22. Use a tool (W) like the one shown alongside to push
the hub cap (8) and snap ring (9) for its housing.
NOTE: Make sure the snap ring (9) has fit completely into
the groove. BAIL14SE00666AA 11

Protections and footboards - Overview

ATTENTION: Platform and protection components must be replaced in case of damage. Attempts to repair, such as
welding and straightening, compromise the strength of the assembly and therefore safety.

1. Platform: must be used for filling and maintenance.

The platform is supported and fixed directly to the frame.
2. Handrails: secured to the frame by the bases. The
handrail removal can be made:
• Fully, by loosening the bolts and nuts that secure the
tubular bars (2a) by the base.
• Partially loosening the clamps (2b) as needed.
