One fine ordinary
day a little girl,
was riding her
tricycle through
the park.

5
She rode along
side her mother
who was
texting furiously
on her phone.

7
It was a
beautiful day
for a walk.

9
The little girl asked,
“Mummy can we play
on the swings?”

Her mother, texting

furiously, replied,
“In a minute, Dear.”

11
Shortly they pass by an
ice cream cart. “Mummy,
can I have an ice cream?”
the little girl asked.

Her mother, still texting

furiously says, “In a
minute, Dear.”

13
They come to a lake
where ducks are
swimming with
their little ducklings.
“Mummy, can I feed the
ducks?”

Her mother, still texting

furiously replies, “In a
minute, Dear.”

15
The little girl is angry.
She stomps her foot and
shouts, “Hrumph!!!”

Then in desperation she

cries, “Help!”

17
Not so very far away,
A certain cow, strolling
through the same park,
heard
a call for help!

And
suddenly…

19
Quick as a flash,
Supercow was there!

21
“What is the matter,” he
asks.

In tears, the girl replied

“Mummy is too busy
texting to play with me.”

23
Supercow observed
the mother texting.

“I know how to fix that,”

he said.

25
With that, Supercow flew
to the top of the tallest
skyscraper in the city
where the internet
antenna was sitting,
reached down and
disconnected the cable.

27
Hiding behind a tree
Supercow could see the
little girl's mother stamp
her foot in the same way
the girl did,

“Drat! The Internet’s

gone down.”

29
The little girl asks,
“Does that mean we can
play on the swings?”

“Humph! I suppose so,”

her mother replied
gruffly.

31
Wheeeee...!!!

33
Yuuummm...!!!

35
Aawwww...!!!

37
The mother and daughter
have a very fun time:
playing in the play area;
licking yummy ice cream;
feeding the ducks.

39
“My darling,
I am soooo sorry
I was so busy!
That was great fun,”
her mother says,
“we’ll have to
do it again soon.”

41
The little girl
smiled and winked
at Supercow.

43
Seeing all his work
was done,
Supercow flew away
to save
another day.

45
And Cow went back to
being just an
ordinary cow,
on what was just,
an
ordinary day.

47
THE END

Managing your Tech
Guidance for Parents
Technology can be a crutch as much as it is a tool,
managing it properly for both kids and parents is important.
Here's some helpful tips for managing your tech.

Let People Know you'll be Offline

If you have planned time time with your children let people know you're going to be out
of reach.

Send Auto Responders

A quick, I'll get back to you once I am free, autoresponder or even as a manual message is
free and easy, and lets face it there are not many urgent matters that can't be handled by
someone else or deferred for an hour or two.

Plan Offscreen Activities for Kids

Parent's often complain about kids having too much screen time, but do you plan
activities for them that are offscreen? Try a walk in the park, sports or yoga, a card game,
board game, chess, or even chess in the park if you're lucky enough to have that facility.

Be There
If you plan time with your children, be there 100% - don't spread your attention between
friends and colleagues, bosse, and employees. Wherever you are, particularly if it is time
with your kids, 'Be There!'.

About the Illustrator

Danielle Bruckert is a New Zealander living abroad, who now calls Africa home. Her chosen career
is as a professional pilot, she has worked in a variety of aviation capacities from instruction to airline
flying, and is the author of several aviation text books.

Danielle started writing children's books as a creative outlet from the stress of her 'day job' and as a
break from the sometimes monotonous work required for her professional writing.
She began with the Mac and Dipper series, aimed at 5-10 year olds, inspired by two of her own dogs.
After having children of her own, she suddenly found she had a muse, an eager resource for test
reading, and, by benefit of age, an honest critic. It was fun and rewarding to write creative stories to
match her children's learning curve.

Because of her passion for children's literature, and the role it plays in literacy standards, all of
Danielle's books are available free in ebook versions. This also led Danielle to create the website
'Free Kids Books' to share good quality free children's books with others, contributing to improved
literacy standards world wide
