After reading the Republic Act 1425 or the Rizal Law, answer the following
questions:

OBSERVE
1. What do you notice first about the document on Rizal Law?

Honestly, the first thing that caught my attention the most is that why does this
course taken in English language and not in Filipino? Like how can nationalism be
discussed in here if the law and course itself is written and studied in a foreign
language?. However, I used to understand the concept that English is an international
language that probably used to this course to be understood by all.

2. What do you notice that you did not expect?

What I noticed which I did not expect is that, why it has to be needed to pass
through a lot of processes when we simply know that this law does not impair
anything especially with our country, and that it seems like since we did not respond
immediately to this law only shows for some point how some of us filipino do not
support nationalism. In addition to that, I also noticed which I did not expect is the
fact that the church actually object to this law and even those schools under the
churches or catholic religion.

REFLECT
1. List 3 things in the law that you think are important. Explain

1). The 2 novel books of Rizal the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo which of
that should be given the most attention by all institutions/schools public, private,
college and universities. Because Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" are both
novels written by Filipino national hero Jose Rizal, and they serve as key literary
works that contributed to the Philippine Revolution against Spanish colonial rule.

2). For me it is also important that universities’ libraries must have of the original
copies of this novels, also the works and the life of Rizal and that it should be pass
through generation to generations so that none of the youth or the filipino would
neglect and forget the nobility and greatness of our national hero which he did for our
beloved country.

3). Also I find it important, that the works of Rizal like his novels must be provided a
copy or be printed in cheap and distributed with free charge and store through the
Purok organizations and Barrio Councils throughout the country for an easy access for
every one who desires to read it.
2. What do you think was happening when the law was passed?

I think, what happened was that the church was not happy about this idea, the
same with after this law was passed. And also that maybe it goes to a lot of criticism
particularly by the churches and probably problems occur at that time. However, at
the same time I used to think that perhaps many filipino were also happy about this
law being passed, like why not? If it is actually giving importance to the works and
nobility of our heroes specifically our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal who fought for our
country’s freedom.

QUESTION
1. Write a question that is left unanswered by the document.

Why it has to go with a lot of processes or time, debates and deliberations to yet
passed the law and get approved? Are the filipinos not proud of Jose Rizal and his
works? Do not they recognize him as the national hero? Or does the works of Jose
Rizal not enough for them to be worth of fighting for?
