INTRODUCTION
• Vehicle tracking and locking system used to track the theft vehicle
by using GPS and GSM technology
• GPS\GSM is the most important system, which integrate both GPS and GSM
technologies
• Vehicle tracking systems used in consumer vehicles as a theft prevention and
rescue device
• Vehicle tracking usually used in navy operators for navy management functions
HISTORY
➢Early (1970s-1990s): Basic, limited to location finding and recovery.

➢GPS Era (Late 1990s-2000s): GPS enabled real-time tracking, SMS alerts for location.

➢GSM Integration (2000s-2010s): Two-way communication, remote features like engine control.

➢Modern Times (2010s-Present): User-friendly interfaces, advanced features, security protocols.

Modern Advancements and Expanding Applications (2010s-Present):

➢Emphasize the shift towards user-friendly interfaces like mobile apps for real-time tracking and data

visualization.

➢Discuss the integration of additional sensors for features like:

➢Geofencing: Alerts sent when a vehicle enters or exits a predefined zone.

➢Harsh driving detection and reporting.

➢Fuel level monitoring and optimization for fleet management.

➢Briefly mention the growing role of cloud-based solutions for data storage, analysis, and remote access.
METHODOLOGY
• Vehicle tracking and locking system used to track the theft vehicle
• Sleep mode / active mode
• If theft identified, IR sensor senses the signals and SMS is sent to
microcontroller, issue the necessary signals to stop the motor
• After switch off the engine, motor cannot restart without permission of
password
• Tracking of vehicle place is easy and doors locked automatically, thief
cannot get away from the car.
OBJECTIVE
• Boost Vehicle Security: Discourage theft attempts, enable real-time
tracking for faster recovery, and remotely immobilize stolen vehicles.
• Enhance Fleet Management: Track vehicle location for route
optimization, monitor driver behavior for improved safety, and analyze
fuel consumption for cost savings.

COMPONENTS REQUIRED
• Arduino Uno
• Power Supply
• Relay Driver
• Relay
• DC Motor
• Voice alarm
• Door locker
• Keypad
• GPRS/GSM
• Max 232
• LCD Display
HOW IT WORKS
• GPS is a satellite-based navigation system consists of a network of 24 satellites located into orbit
• The system provides essential information to military, civil and commercial users
• GPS works in any of the weather circumstances at anywhere in the World
• GPS receiver must be locked on to the signal of at least three satellites to estimate 2D position and track
movement
• Once the vehicle position has been determined, the GPS unit can determine other information like, speed,
distance to destination, time.
• GPS receiver is used to detect the vehicle location and provide the information to responsible person
through GSM technology
HOW IT WORKS
• It accepts a SIM card operates on a subscriber's mobile number just
like a cellular phone
• It is a cell phone without display
• Modem sim300 is a triband GSM/GPRS engine that works on
EGSM900MHz, DCS 1800MHz and PCS 1900MHz frequencies
• GSM Modem is RS232-logic level compatible, i.e., it takes-3v to -
15v as logic high and +3v to +15 as logic low
• MAX232 is used to convert TTL into RS232 logic level converter used
between the microcontroller and the GSM board
• The signal at pin 11 of the microcontroller is sent to the GSM modem
through pin 11 of max232 this signal is received at pin2 (RX) of the
GSM modem.
• The GSM modem transmits the signal from pin3 (TX) to the
microcontroller through MAX232, which is received at pin IO of ICl
ADVANTAGES

➢Enhanced security: Discourages theft, aids recovery, and allows remote

immobilization.
➢Improved fleet management: Optimizes routes, monitors drivers, and tracks
fuel efficiency.
➢Cost savings: Reduces fuel waste, lowers accident rates, and potentially
cuts insurance costs.
➢Peace of mind: Provides real-time location information for added security.
DISADVANTAGES

➢Cost: The initial installation cost of the system and ongoing

subscription fees for data and service can be significant.
➢Signal Dependence: Reliability can be affected by factors like:
➢Limited GPS signal: Buildings, tunnels, and dense foliage can block
the signal, leading to inaccurate location data.
➢Cellular network issues: Poor cellular coverage in remote areas can
disrupt data transmission.
APPLICATIONS

1. Personal Vehicle Security: 2. Fleet Management: 3. Business Applications:

Theft prevention Route optimization Logistics and transportation

Real-time tracking Driver behavior monitoring Field service management
Remote immobilization Fuel efficiency analysis Rental car companies
CONCLUSION
vehicle tracking and locking systems used to track the theft vehicle by using
GPS and GSM technology. This system puts into the sleeping mode vehicle
handled by the owner or authorized persons; otherwise goes to active mode.
When the theft identified, the responsible people send SMS to the micro
controller, then issue the control signals to stop the engine motor. After that all
the doors locked. To open the doors or to restart the engine authorized person
needs to enter the passwords. In this method, easily track the vehicle place and
doors locked.
FUTURE PLAN
➢AI-powered analytics: Analyzing vast data sets for predictive maintenance and real-time
driver behavior insights.
➢Enhanced security: Implementing robust encryption and tamper-proof mechanisms.
➢Connected car integration: Enabling remote diagnostics and automatic emergency
response.
➢Expanding applications: Supporting autonomous vehicles and usage-based insurance.
➢Sustainability focus: Lowering power consumption and promoting eco-friendly driving.
