1. Think about the home rules in your family (eating, cooking, cleaning, playing, etc.). Describe them.
Which ones do you dislike and why?
2. Choose one member of your family you have the best relationship with. Describe the relationship.

1. What is “a family”?
Family is a group of people consisting of one or two parents and their children. Our parents take care
of us from our birth until we grow up. We are often loved and spoiled by our grandparents.

2. What family structures/types of family are there/describe them.


Nuclear family – is a family where are two parents, grandparents and children,
Single-parents family – is a family where relationships are broken. This sometimes called a ,,broken
home”. Children live with their mom or dad (if a parent has died or their parents are divorced).
Stepfamily – life may be very difficult for these children, both emotionally and financially. Their dad
or mom gets married again and new parent becomes stepparents.
Foster family – is family where mom or women haven’t got children. They foster child.
Extended family – is family where are parents, grandparents, children, aunts, uncles and so on.

3. Explain what a family gathering is and give a few examples.


A family gathering is a unique social occasion. When family members, especially from our extended
family, get together. E.g. at family celebrations, such as weddings, graduation ceremonies, birthday
and funerals.

4. Describe a relationship between parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren,


between siblings.
Relationship between parents and children is very special. We love them, but us to respect and obey
them as they are responsible for our upbringing.
Relationship between siblings: our brother, our sisters are from the same generations, share similar
hobbies and probably having much the same opinions.
Relationship with our grandparents is similar to those with our parent, but grandparents aren’t
responsible for us, we don’t live with them, we see grandparents only once or twice a month.

5. Explain and characterize a generation gap.


The generation gap has existed for hundreds of years and it seems that the only solution may be a kind of
compromise. Parents claim that the worst time is when their children turn thirteen and become teenagers.
Teenagers spend much of their free time out with their friends and making their own decisions, unsupervised by
their business. On the other hand parents think today’s children don’t respect any adult, are impolite and rude
and even lazy. Parents should try to build friendly relationships with their children, instead of scolding all the
time.

6. Explain what makes good parent good children


Good parents make:
They should try to build friendly relationships with their children, instead of scolding all the time, they should
talk to their kids, make compromise, supervised by their children, and they shouldn’t spoil their children.

Good children make:


We should try to us where polite, respect adult, helpful, and obey our parents and talking out the rubbish.

7. What does your brother do, what does he like doing…


My brother’s name is Robert. He is in his thirties. He’s about 180 cm. He has good figure, but he isn’t slim. My
brother is a very attractive man. He has short brown hair. Her hair is straight. Robert is a very good person,
because he is very friendly, clever, honest, he likes animals and children. From time to time he is forgetful.
He likes play football and he talks to friends. He loves his wife.
