ii. Focus Areas

The Ahvas Horti Fed Producer Company Limited was established and registered under the
Company Act of 2013, (Subsection 2 of Section 7, Amendments in Company Act 1956, New Rules as
per 2013) on 25th March 2021. The main aim of this FPO is to act as a catalyst of change in economic
system of our country. To build a sustainable agriculture sector by promoting and supporting Farmer
Producer Organisations, that enables farmers to improve production and productivity in the state. To
enable farmers in accessing the markets through their FPOs, both as buyers and sellers. To create a policy
environment for investments in FPOs to leverage their production and marketing strength.

iii. Strategic Interventions undertaken

FPO can engage in the process of value addition like cleaning, grading, packing, and also
farm level processing facilities at a user charge basis on a reasonably cheaper rate. The FPO can make
the facility for storage and transportation for its members.
The members of the Ahvas Horti Fed Producer Company Limited collect dry fruits and carry
out cleaning, grading, sorting and packing of the same. They also search for market linkages for their
production. As a step in this direction, a tie-up with a national based mandi called HFN Mandi has
been established.

iv. Success Mantra

As a result of the interventions of the FPO, there have been marked improvements in the
volume as well as quality of dry fruits being produced. There is increased awareness about the
benefits of modern techniques of farming vis-a-vis the traditional ones. A structured schedule has
been drawn to cover the required crop management operations in a timely manner, thus avoiding
undue delays. Peer learning has also helped to widen the farmers’ horizons.

 Dry fruit Farmers have to travel several hours every day to reach Mandi for sale of their produce.
This becomes especially difficult because they have to do picking also after returning from Mandi.

 Steep price drop happens during peak season. Sometimes the price drops to such low levels that it
become difficult to recover even the picking and transportation costs.

v. Recognition
Media Recognition encourage our members, receiving media recognition can go a long way
in legitimizing company’s success, drawing new attention to brand, and creating inbound links that
help to improve your search engine ranking. Our FPO has been recognised by various national and
local media at different levels, that highlighted our progress in the field and encouraged us to do more
hard work for the farmers.

vi. Benefits of the scheme

The scheme has provided a platform to eliminate the chain of intermediaries in agricultural
marketing. The primary producers can benefit from the economies of scale through accumulation. The
farmers' producers have good bargaining power in the form of bulk suppliers of inputs and buyers of
produce. The scheme has provided a platform for farmers to collectivise and form FPOs. The support
for three initial three years as management cost and MEGF are pivotal for success of FPOs.

small farm sizes. It may also result in additional employment generation because of the increased
intensity of farming. The FPO has applied for FSSAI licence and is expected to receive it soon. The
FPO also plans to apply for agri-input licence in the near future to support supply of good quality agri
