1. General

1.1 Introduction

Following the success of the DECA Fall Competition hosted by our colleague, SSIS DECA
Chapter, we’re delighted to host the first-ever DECA Spring Competition this year at AISVN.
This competition aims to strengthen the business student community in Saigon by offering them
a place to network, learn new knowledge, and explore different careers in the business field.

● Date: Saturday, January 27, 2024


● Time: Half day, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
● Location: American International School Vietnam (AISVN) | 220 Đ. Nguyễn Văn Tạo,
Long Thới, Nhà Bè, TP HCM

1.2 Code of Conduct

● All participants are required to bring a Student ID, and ID Card (Chứng Minh Nhân Dân)
to enter the competition
● All participants are expected to bring their writing utensils and papers. No pencils or
paper will be provided on competition day
● All participants must be dressed in Business Formal attire. Hence T-shirts, Crop tops,
Shorts, Jeans, Sneakers, and Flip-flops are not allowed.
● Regarding food and drinks, no participants are allowed to bring a full-course meal but
light packaged snacks and water bottles are allowed.

1.3 Participations

● All DECA Chapters are responsible for submitting a list of representative participants
from their school through this Google Sheet
● All DECA Chapters are responsible for ensuring their Chapter members' participation.
● AISVN DECA will not be responsible for refunding any money for participants after
purchasing a coupon.

2.2 Food & Beverage

● AISVN DECA will be providing a variety of food & beverages (including lunch) that can
be purchased through coupons that will be sold at the beginning of the day
● Coupons will contain one food and one beverage item, participants are recommended to
bring 100,000 - 200,000 VND for purchasing
● Participants are allowed to bring their water bottles, bottled drinks, and snacks to the
competition but are not allowed to bring full meals or order delivery service
● Participants must tidy the space that they have eaten or drank in at all times, AISVN
DECA executives and team will be checking throughout the competition and will report
to other chapter officers if participants' spaces are unclean

3.1 Financial Analysis Case Study

CAREER CLUSTER: Finance


INSTRUCTIONAL AREA: Financial Analysis

Participants will be challenged to perform management duties and tasks centered on high-level
financial and business planning, such as data gathering and organization, report production and
usage, and data analysis for corporate decision-making. Concepts include knowing the origins
and objectives of financial statements, how management choices affect those statements, and
how to analyze and evaluate data for business planning.

Performance Indicators for Financial Analysis vary between case studies and their specific focus. Here
are the general performance indicators.

GENERAL PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

● Communication skills – the ability to exchange information and ideas with others through
writing, speaking, reading, or listening
● Analytical skills – the ability to derive facts from data, findings from facts, conclusions
from findings, and recommendations from conclusions
● Production skills – the ability to take a concept from an idea and make it real
● Priorities/time management – the ability to determine priorities and manage time
commitments
● Understand tools, strategies, and systems used to maintain, monitor, control, and plan the
use of financial resources
● Economic competencies

3.2 Crisis Management Case Study

CAREER CLUSTER: Business Management and Administration


INSTRUCTIONAL AREA: Crisis Management

Crisis Management is how an organization responds to an unforeseen, disruptive incident that


poses a risk to the business or its stakeholders. It is the use of tactics intended to support a
company in managing a major, unexpected event while preserving commercial operations. This
includes adopting new policies and processes into place to protect, mitigate, and prevent a crisis.

GENERAL PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

● Describe the use of crisis management in public relations


● Discuss the nature of enterprise crisis management
● Develop a risk management program
● Identify business crisis
● Explain ways to assess risk/crisis management

4. Responsibilities

4.1 DECA Chapter Officers

● AISVN DECA Chapter is responsible for organizing the event, including setting up and
cleaning up, and providing lunch and refreshments for all participants.
● All DECA chapter executives are responsible for administering and ensuring the fairness
of the competition by inspecting competing teams different from the school they’re from.
● All DECA Chapter executives are responsible for keeping track of their chapter’s scoring
sheet.

4.2 Board of Judges

● Judges are responsible for assessing and evaluating each competing team impartially
● All judges are expected to undergo some form of training to comprehend the grading
criteria from DECA fully
