MATH TANGRAMS ACTIVITY

The tangram puzzle originated in China hundreds of years ago and has been a favorite shape challenge
around the world. After having students solve shape challenges using all pieces in the tangram square,
the group will pick an image that they will create by using the tangram shape. ‘

Objective :

1. Students will work in a group and use Tangram pieces to identify the relationships among similar
and congruent shapes.
2. Student will identify productive and obstructive behaviors in group work and will brainstorm
ways to make group work more effective.

Materials :

1. Set of Tangrams
2. Questionnaires

Procedure:

1. The first task of each group is to find the unknown angle of each given shape.
2. After finding the unknown angle, they will find the shape that corresponds to their answers
inside the classroom.
3. After collecting all the shape, they will pick a picture and solve it using the shapes their collected
or Tangram pieces.
