DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN

MATHEMATICS (BAR GRAPH)

I. OBJECTIVES; at the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
1. know the parts of the bar graph
2. construct a bar graph using the table presented
3. appreciate the importance of cooperating in organizing the data
II. SUBJECT MATTER: Constructing a horizontal bar graph
Reference: K to 12 Grade 4 Curriculum, LM Math Grade 4 on pages 245 to 247
Materials: 3D and 2D bar graph, Tables, and charts
Values Integration: Helping and cooperating each other
III. PROCEDURE
A. Preparatory Activities
Teachers’ Activity Learner’s Activity
1. Greetings
Good morning class! Good Morning Teacher.
How are you today! We’re fine thank you. How about you?

I’m fine too. Okay! Everybody sit down.

Thank you, teacher.

2. Drill
Let’s have some exercises first. I will
divide the class into three (3). Every group will
select their group leader.
Yes, ma’am.
I have here a two (2) bowls. In this one
bowl, there are a piece of paper written with your
group name. And in the another bowl, there are
paper inside which written with your group
sound or action. Okay! Every leader come
forward and pick a paper in the bowls.
STAR HEART DIAMOND
Clap Stomp Sshhh
Remember, if I call your group name
you should response with your group sound. Is
that clear? Yes, teacher.
Very good! I have here the score board.
That scoreboard represents your total score
for today’s activity. I will give a plus point to
those group who will behave, cooperate and
execute properly their group sound as I call
their group name.

who is noisy, doesn’t cooperate with their
group and doesn’t execute well with their
group sounds. And the winner for today’s
activity will get a reward after the class ends. Yes, teacher!
Is that clear class?

Okay! Let’s start with Group STAR. Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!
How about the Group HEART? Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!
And last, the Group DIAMOND. Sshhh! Sshhh Sshhh! Sshhh!

Let’s try to have a test now.

3. Review
What was our lesson yesterday? Who
can still remember? Yes, Arianne? Yesterday, we discuss about interpreting a bar
graph.

Very good Arianne! Now, let’s try to

interpret the data presented.

was scrambled. She tried to correct it but while
she is searching, her mother Christine called to
have her dinner. So what should angel do? Can
you help angel in her assignment?
Yes, teacher!

How can you help angel? Teacher we are going to arrange the scrambled
letters.

Yes, Very good!

Okay! I only need four (4)

representatives every group. All you are going to
do is to write the arrange letters of the parts of
the bar graph on the board.

If you’re done, every group should
immediately produce their group sounds for me
to recognize. I will only give three (2) minutes.

Angel have now her assignment, the
parts of the bar graph. And she can pass it for
tomorrow.
Let’s clap ourselves for helping angel in
her assignment with “angel clap”. Everybody
stand up.

What are the parts of the bar graph?

Title, label, horizontal axis and vertical axis.

Very good!

B. Developmental Activities

Teachers’ Activity Learner’s Activity

1. Presentation
a. Setting of Standards

Being a helpful student is a good

example, but a good student is a better
practice.
Therefore, what should a good
student do when his/her teacher is talking
and discussing in front of the class? Anyone?
Listen
Participate
Sit properly
Don’t talk to sit mate
Raise your hand if you have some answer

Very good! Can I expect that to all of

you?
Yes, teacher!

2. Discussion

Have you ever make or constructed a

bar graph? Do you have any idea on how to
construct a bar graph only using a table
presented?
Not, teacher!
Teachers’ Activity Learner’s Activity

Today, we are going to construct a

bar graph. There are two types of bar graph;
Horizontal bar graph and vertical bar graph.

HORIZONTAL BAR GRAPH

With that, we will be going to focus

on constructing the horizontal bar graph.
