Overview of Computer Basics

Computer is an electronic digital machine that takes in input data, processes the data, and outputs information and stores data for future use. It has two main parts: hardware, which are the physical components that can be seen and touched; and software, which are non-physical components that control the hardware. Computer memory comes in two main types - RAM, which allows for random access of memory, and ROM, which allows read-only access of memory. Computers have gone through five generations from the first in the 1940s-1950s to the fifth generation of today and beyond.
