APMAA Top Management
In addition to leadership, APMAA Top Management shows a solid
commitment to the quality management of the association.
The venue was Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia (UiTM), Shah Alam. Prof.
Rahman, Ibrahim Kamal Abdul hosted. The theme was “Management
Accounting – Evolutionary Tool for Corporate Success.” Two hundred people
attended, including those from Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia.
It was decided to form the Asia-Pacific Management Accounting Association
(APMAA). The name Asian Management Accounting Association was changed
to Asia-Pacific Management Accounting Association. Prof Akira Nishimura,
Kyushu University Japan, was selected as the first president of APMAA.
The APMAJ first issue (Vol. 1 No. 1) was published in Dec. 2006. In 2010, the
journal issues increased from once to twice a year.
The APMAA Conference is one of the main source of papers for the journal.
Manuscripts submitted to the Journal are normally reviewed by two referees for
evaluation, using a double blind review procedure. Currently APMAJ is indexed
in international Ebscohost and Cabell's Directories. ARI has also submitted
APMAJ for possible inclusion and to be indexed by SCOPUS.
Hosted by Professor. Dr. Akira Nishimura, this Forum was held at Beppu
University, Japan. More than 50 researchers and managers participated, including 9
international participants. Prof. Scarbrough and Prof. Alpenberg were the first
participants outside of the Asia-Pacific Regions. Prof. Dr. Susumu Ueno was
nominated as the APMAA 2nd president. Fifteen professors were designated as
2010 steering committee members.
APMAA must attract more people to join. We must enhance people’s awareness
by fully utilizing our communication vehicles. To get on the growth track, we
have four vehicles now:
Annual Forums (November since 2002),
Asia-Pacific Management Accounting Journal (Dec. 2006),
APMAA NEWS (Nov. 2009- ), and
APMAA.asia (Jan. 2010-), our web-site
We aspire to double the number of Forum participants within a few years.
We also aspire to attract participants from more countries.
In parallel with increasing members, we will upgrade the quality of our activities.
