ABSTRACT

A person’s character is shaped by his attitude, manners, values, and moral beliefs.
One of the main goals of the Department of Education is to successfully develop the core
values among learners such as being Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, and Makabansa.
However, there are certain instances by which some children are not able to show some good
manners towards others and the scenario gets worse when they cannot even utter courteous
words and expressions as a sign of respect to their parents, to their teachers, and most
especially to the elders. This study aimed to enhance the core and moral values among
learners using different activities as well as to assess the effects of the whole project in the
learners’ character development. The descriptive method of research was used in the study.
The respondents of the study were the seventeen teachers in Bulihan Elementary School,
Bulihan, Rosario, Batangas. The findings revealed that the learners’ manifestations of good
behavior in all core values were very evident. The findings also showed that the activities
under the project were very highly effective. Based on the results, the project had a huge
effect in the development of the learners’ core and moral values. A plan of action is
recommended to strengthen the utilization of the project. The benefit of this study is not
limited to one school only. However, the action research serves as a contemplative reference
among other researchers who aim to enhance the character and personality of their learners.
