A. Background
In looking for an automatic job we must prepare our skill and abilities so that we can run
it well. For example, the adventages in experience and certain skill. We also need the
name of the relationship with friends in finding a job so we can easily get
information.And what we need to prepare first when we are looking for work is our
mentality. Because when giving a job application we will undergo an interview.
B. Objectives
1. To find out the meaning of the interview in finding a job
2. To find out good example of interviews

C. Discussion “Interview Understanding In Looking For A Job”.


An interviuw is a conversation between two or more people and takes place between the
speaker and the interviewer or a conversation with a specific purpose. In this method the
respondent face to face to obtain data that can explain certain problems.
1. Purpose Interview In Looking For A Job.
The Purpose Of The Interview when looking for work is to get the right information
from trusted sources. To complete information from other data collection techniques.
2. In Depth Interview Function
 Avoid correct misinformation from trusted sources.
 To get information comprehensively accurate, honest, and deep.
3. Type of Interview in Finding a Job
In looking for a job there are 2 types job of job interviews that are of then used
namely :
 Standar interview
In A Standar interview the statement that is of then submitted is usually around
that person. Along with mastered abilities related two the position being worked
on. Example :
- Why did you choose this job…?
- Tell us more about yourself…?
- What are you doing in the next five years..?
 Interview behavior
This interview focuses more on asking about behavior in predicting future
performance, for a example :
- What is the biggest failure you’ve ever done..?
- What is greatest success you have ever made..?
- How to complete there different tasks…?

4. Interview Traits
 Done face to face
 Done for the purpose of collecting data and facts
 Someone was interviewed
 There are speakers.

Applicant :good morning, Sir.
Manager :good morning. Have a seat, please.
Applicant :thank you
Manager :Is there anything I can do for you ?
Applicant :I’m applying for a job. Is there any vacancy for me ?
Manager : Yes, I’m looking for a secretary. May I have your application letter
including your CV ?
Applicant : Yes, here you are Sir.
Manager : where did you graduate from ?
Applicant : I graduated from padjajaran university.
Manager : what major studies did you take there ?
Applicant : My major studies were tourism and English.
Manager : Have you ever worked or done an apprenticeship before ?
Applicant : Yes, I have. I worked as a secretary for one of the developing
companies is Bandung.
Manager : Why did you quit your job ?
Applicant : I didn’t work there anymore because I didn’t like the working climate
there.
Manager : what your intention to work here ?
Applicant : To develop my career and to get new experiences
Manager : Are you married ?
Applicant : Yes, I am. I have a son and two daughters.
Manger : do you intend to go on your study someday ?
Applicant : Yes, I’ m going to continue my study next month.
Manager : Where will you go on your study ?
Applicant : Padjajaran university.
Manager : What major studies will you take there ?
Applicant : I’ll take business and management.
Manager : I think that’s great. I like the one who never stop learning. Will call
your number to inform you wether you’ re accepted or not.
Applicant : Thank you, sir.
Manager : You’re welcome.

Some expressions below are usually used in job interview.


- Do you have any experience ?
- Let’s talk about your educational background.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Tell me about your strength and weakness.
- Where do you get the information.
- How much salary do you want.
- Why are you interested in this job.

Asking about someone’s educational background.


- Can you tell me where you graduated from ?
- Where you graduated from ?
- I would like to know where you studied.
- What major did you take there ?
- Could you tell me about your major ?

Below are some examples of telling about educational background.


- I graduated from the school of foreign languages.
- My major studies were tourism and English.
- I majored in management.

Interviewer : Tell me about yourself ?
Interviewee :my name is nikita. I am an alumni of computer science from
Indonesia university. Nowadays I am working at PT back and
forth as a technical network, I work at the company januari 2013
Interviewer: why do you choose computer science majors ?
Interviewee:I realized that I enjoyed computers since elementary school. I studied
college in computer science. I added my insight and knowledge about
computers, besides, I studied in then that department with fun, because the
topic was in accordance with my interest and pleasure.
Interviewer : how do you pay for your college ?
Interviewee: As much as my tuition was financed by my parents, but I also tried to
ease the burden of parents by working as a part-time at a shirt
printing shop near where I lived4
Interviewer : do you have a plan to continue your education ?
Interviewee : yes, the plan for the next 3 years is because I went to D3 so I would
like to demage my undergraduate level, with my undergraduate
studies my knowledge and knowledge will increase so that I can
have a career with my knowledge so that I can have a better career
in the future.
Interviewer : besides formal education, do you have other skill
Interviewee:Yes, when I learned I attended the English and Japanese language
courses. Busides that, I also attended training for a week long leader
who was held by my university student association
I am also able to operate computers with various programs, such as
Ms.Word, Ms.Exel. Ms.Access

Interviewer : What are your strengths and weaknesses?


Interviewee: My strengths are honest, fast learning, hard worker. In the meantime,
my weakness is to forget. However I tried to overcome this
weakness by recording important things related to work in my pockt
book.
Interviewer : do you have a good relationship with colleagues ?
Interviewee : Yes, I think my relationshio with all of myworkers is going well. I
once had a problem with a colleague regarding the distribution of
responsibilities.
Interviewer : if you are required to work in a team, what position will you
choose ?
Interviewee : I prefer to be a drafter. That way, I can plan the steps to be taken, list
the resources needed, identify obstacles, and measure the success of a project.
Interviewer : Can you work under pressure ?
Interviewee : Yes, so far it can overcame the pressure of my work. Besides, I think
the pressure can provide positive results for me because I can issue my
potential, initiative and skills to complete the work.
Interviewer : How is your attitude towards criticism directed at you ?
Interviewee : in my understanding , people generally don’t like to be
criticizedcarelessy. Personally, I received criticism directed at me. If the
criticism is good and constructive, I will be happy to carry it out to improve
my self. If instead, I will ignore it.
Interviewer : in your opinion, what kind of person is difficult to work with ?
Interviewee : in my opinion, people who are difficult to work with are people who
don’t like to work hard like breaking rules, complaining a lot, not paying
attention to the quality of work, and like to bad-mouth others.
Interviewer : if your subordinates make a mistake, what do you do ?
Interviewee : Nobody is perfect. I will examine what really happened, look for
damage due to the error, and a look for the cause. I will also give the
subordinates the opportunity to improve their performance.
Interviewer : what will you do if your subordinates complain about their rib
problem ?
Interviewee : I will aceppt them in my room and let them share their personal
problems. If asked, I will suggest some of the problems. From my experience,
they generally only need a listener who will listen to their problems without
judging them.
Interviewer : what will you do when facing a big problem at work ?
Interviewee : I will look for the root of the problem in order to get the right
solution. After that I will run the solution in order to improve in line
with the corrective action, I will also set precautionsbecause the
problem does not occur again.
Interviewer : what is the hardest obstacale you have found in your previous job ?
Interviewee : My most difficult obstacle in the job is irregular working hours.
Sometimes I work in the morning and at night, type big.
Interviewer : are you willing to work late?
Interviewee : yes, I willing. That doesn’t matter to me.
Interviewer : what makes you interested in working in your company ?
Interviewee : This company offers jobs that suit my experience and education.
Thus, I can contribute to advancing this company.
Interviewer : in your opinion, what makes our company different from other simiar
companies ?
Interviewee : As far as I know, this company produces quality products. In
addition, the facilities provided to its employees are also better than other
companies.
Interviewer : Are you willing to be placed outside the city ?
Interviewee : yes, I am willing. Working this company means that I must be
prepared to accept the decisions of the policies that applied.
Interviewer : What is your current salary ?
Interviewee : My basic salary is now IDR 4 million. Plus monthly allowances and
bonuses, my total salary is IDR 5 million.
Interviewer : what salary do you expect for this position ?
Interviewee : I hope to get a salary of Rp.8 million.
Interviewer : we cannot fulfill your salary request. How much can you reduce the
demand for salary?
Interviewee : what about 7 millions.
Interviewer : well, we agree.
Interviewee : Good, thank you see you again..

6. CLOSING

In the explanationabove we can draw conlusion as follows :

 In looking for a job there must be an interview is a conversation between two or more
people and takes place between the interviewer and interviewee.
 The goal is to get information from trusted sourees
 It’s function is to avoid information or data errors
 There are two types of interviews namely :
 Standard interview and
 Behavioral interview.
