The Term 2 examinations for the Year 10 are currently underway and will extend into the following week. Additionally, our
students from Year 1 to Year 9 are gearing up to begin their exams next week. We encourage all students to approach these
assessments with dedication and focus.
It is essential for us to provide support to our students in effectively managing the stress associated with exams, and in
Rafflesia, we are committed to ensure their wellbeing. With this in mind, we provided the Y7 to Year 9 students with a time of
Exam Stress Relief and Relaxation session. Your ongoing support and encouragement during this period are equally
invaluable to our students.
Maintaining a healthy balance between academic studies and leisure activities is crucial for the holistic growth and
development of our students. As educators, we strive to foster an environment where students can excel academically while
also enjoying their time at school.
As we emphasize the importance of balance, let's not forget about our upcoming Swimming Gala scheduled for 8 March
2024. We extend a warm invitation to all to join us and cheer on our talented swimmers. Let's prepare for a delightful and
exciting event together.
Thank you for your support and collaboration as we navigate through this academic year. If you have any questions or
concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at principal.kajang@rafflesia.edu.my
Thank you.

Food Taste Experiment
Year 1 junior scientists ran a tasteful science experiment to
explore their taste buds. We strictly followed food safety and
hygiene procedures while carrying out the experiment. Our
little food tasters were going to find out if their taste buds
are working. We prepared 5 cups of different flavoured
waters: Salty (flavoured with table salt); Bitter (flavoured with
coffee powder); Sour (flavoured with vinegar); Sweet
(flavoured with brown sugar); No flavour (unflavoured
drinking water). They tasted a little of the water in each cup
then rinsed their mouth with water after each tasting.
Besides chewing and swallowing food, after tabulating their
results in the written experiment report, they concluded that
our tongue is used to differentiate and taste food and
flavours! It also helps us to identify if the food is spoiled or
rotten in our usual daily life. Do you know that our brain
could tell us to avoid bitter tastes? It is because most of the
bitter-tasted food are associated with poison. Be cautious!

How does your garden grow?
The inquisitive Year 2 students started a planting experiment to investigate
and test the factors that affect Photosynthesis. They were intrigued with the
scientific terms related to plant growth like Photosynthesis and Germination.
Year 3 - Maths
Tick-Tock
This week in Year 3, our students had a blast learning about time! They got creative and made their own clocks using paper plates. These paper plate clocks helped our
students understand how to read time on both analogue and digital clocks. Through fun activities, they learned a lot about telling time and why it's important.

Exploring the Earth’s Magnetic Field
In Geography lesson this week, students learned about the structure of the Earth. They discovered that it had a core made
of metal - mainly iron and nickel. Year 6 students then explored the Earth’s magnetic field using a bar magnet. They were
also given a compass and explored how it moves and why a compass points towards North. Towards the end of the week,
they grasped essential concepts such as magnetic field, repel, attract and magnetic poles. Kudos to everyone!
