At our school, the children enjoyed wearing their comfy PJs during their lessons, sharing stories and
taking part in various activities that celebrate the joy of reading. A huge thank you to all the Bronte
families who made donations at the gate on Friday morning, we managed to raise a total of £276.44 for
the Book Trust. Thank you very much.

Kindergarten have been listening to the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar”
exploring all the different healthy fruits it munched through. The children decided to
make some super healthy smoothies, I think they enjoyed them!

On Thursday Kent Fire and Rescue visited us and spoke to all the children, from Kindergarten to
Year 6. Among other things, the children learnt about fire safety in the home and that smoke
alarms need to be tested once a week to make sure they are working properly. They tried on some
of the special clothing fire fighters wear when attending fires and learnt about the materials they
are made from.
It was a very informative visit enjoyed by all the children.
Maths in Year 4
Do you know how the short division method works? Are you able to explain it to someone else? Not as
easy as it sounds! Well, Year 4 have been practising this method and have used place value counters to
show how the exchanges take place.
... Because the children were curious to learn about when and how
an embryo becomes a foetus so Mrs Green planned a lesson to
teach them how! Did you know that a foetus is approximately the
size of a grape at 8 weeks old? But by the time it is 36 weeks old, it
is about the size of a papaya!
The children also learned how a foetus grows and changes as the
weeks pass during a human's gestation period. There was lots to
remember ... but Year 5 can now teach you some facts about foetal
development.

Football Report – by Mr J
On Friday Years 5 and 6 took part in a football tournament at Riverview School. We took a team of
girls and a team of boys to play matches against Culverstone School and 2 teams from Riverview. In
a really well planned and fun tournament our teams fared brilliantly. The boys winning all 3 of
their games (9-0, 5-0 and 2-1) and the girls winning 2 and drawing 1 of their games without
conceding a goal all tournament (4-0, 6-0, 0-0).
The boys goals came from Kaelo (4), Archie (2), Avtar (3), Matthew (3), Jai (2), Denzel & Veer, all
seven of the team scoring!
The girls goals came from Alina (5, ALL IN THE SAME MATCH!), Taya (3) and Ruby (2).
Year 1 also enjoyed a visit to Howletts Wild Animal Park this week. The children spent
time observing and learning different facts about the animals that live there, including
their diets and natural habitats. The children were lucky enough to take part in a 'Hungry
Hunters' workshop with one of the zookeepers, where they learnt about the behaviour of
different predators. We all had a fantastic day and there were certainly some tired
children on the minibus journey home.
