3 ACTIVITY OF INTEGRATION
SPREAD SHEETS
TIME: 40 MINUTES
Your parents have a retail shop they are operating in the trading centre.
They go and buy items from the nearby wholesale shop in town, bring to
the retail shop to make a difference called profits. The shop sells sugar,
salt, cooking oil, soap, rice, posho, beans, baking flour, cosmetic and other
groceries.
Your parents have been keeping the shop records and daily transactions in
manual spreadsheets. Of recent rats invaded the shop and ate up the
books of accounts and this annoyed your dad as the proprietor of the
business because he lost a lot of information.
He has bought a new computer and wants to migrate to electronic
spreadsheets since he has a child offering ICT in the lower curriculum.
Tasks:
(a)Advice your parents on any five spread sheet applications you can
use to arrange, make computations and store records of the shop.

(b)What do you think are the benefits of using electronic spreadsheet?

(c) Illustrate using a graphical representation, how you can use any one
spreadsheet application mentioned above to organize and compute
the data above.
