Since the world has a fast rate developing in recent years, it is noticeable that a large number of families

let their children have access to computers. Hence, they start to experience multiple kinds of virtual
entertainment called “video games”. In this essay, I will discuss and analyze the two sides of this matter.

Due to the rapid development of technology of the modern era, video games are becoming a
popular means of entertainment among people, especially young children. While many people
have a low opinion of this trend, others believe in the opposite, claiming that this is a positive
change. This essay will discuss both the benefits (merits) and the drawbacks (demerits) of this
matter.
On the one hand, video games help enhance the cognitive abilities of their brains. According to a 2018
study / research conducted by the University of Michigan, it is found that video games can improve the
“cognitive function, including memory, attention, and decision-making skills” of young people and can
improve their overall mental health. For instance, research has been given out on all social media
platforms that video games can benefit children in the development of the brain.

On the one hand, video games can greatly benefit children in the development of their brain. A
recent study conducted by the University of Illinois, children who play video games regularly
between the age of 12 to 15 are found to be more academically successful than the peers / those
who do not. Moreover, by interacting with the in-game environment, children could learn the
necessary social skills that could be used later in their lives. For instance, …
On the other hand, video games can have a negative impact on the behavior of children. If children play
some matchmaking, online and fighting games, you should watch them and restrict their time to maintain
their health so as not to let them be addicted, since those games can be attracted very easily. Being
addicted to those games can affected your children harshly, making their overall skills become degraded
and bring up so some mental disease such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, social phobia, and poor psycho-
social support resulting in negative consequences in many aspects of their life, including self-care,
relationships, school and work.

On the other hand, video games could have a negative impact / effect / influence on the behavior
of children. Violent acts, which are often shown in video games, could make the children believe
that such actions are acceptable, potentially leading to aggressiveness in real life because they
are yet to be mature enough to distinguish between fiction and reality. Furthermore, (addiction
how?)
In conclusion, although there are some huge benefits for videogames but overuse it will come negative
consequences. So if you want to give your children some games to broaden their knowledge, please
supervise them while playing.
