Why CQU?
The University was originally founded in Rockhampton in 1967 and was
known as the Queensland Institute of Technology (Capricornia). In 1992 the
Institute achieved full University status to become known as Central
Queensland University. In 2008 it became CQ University in recognition of
institutions. CQ University has been recognized within the World’s Top 100
Young Universities by the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) World
University Rankings, claiming a spot at number 90.

Central Queensland University is an Australian dual sector university

based in Queensland. CQ University has 16 campuses and its main campus is in
North Rockhampton, Queensland. However, it also has campuses in
Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone City, Gladstone, Mackay and
Noosa, as soon as delivery sites in Cairns and study centres at metropolitan
campuses in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane.

CQ is one of the oldest education providers of Australia. CQU is

committed to the flexible delivery of learning and teaching and uses technology
to allow flexibility and responsiveness to student needs.CQU has small size
classrooms, only 20-25 students in a class so that every student gets personal
attention of the teacher. CQ University providing vice chancellors scholarship,
who were academically excellent in their studies and having a full-time
graduate employment 81.1% in recent years. Reasonable tuition fees when
compared to other universities. Other reasons for choosing CQU is it provides
“student mentor” program. Main objective of this program is to help new
students to quickly feel at home at CQ University during their first year of
study.

While searching for good universities which offer the kind of courses I was
looking for I evaluated various options like Latrobe and RMIT University. For
the same program the fee structure in Latrobe is 62000 AUD for 2 years and in
RMIT 69000 AUD for 2 years where as in CQU it costs me only 51975 AUD
only. Adding to this CQU offers 10 weeks of internship which is very unique
compared to other universities. This internship helps me in getting real time
work experience. CQU student’s employment rate (81.1%) is also higher
compared to other universities. CQU Small class sizes and relaxed surroundings
create an ideal educational environment Hence I decided to pursue my masters
at CQU.

The Student support services provided by the University specifically to

international students, where they offer Student welfare support, Academic
support, Career support, monitoring academic progress, conducting workshops
etc., CQ University welfare support team across their campuses endeavour to
create a friendly, supportive and understanding environment for students and
build lasting relationships that extend beyond their time at CQ University. CQ
University's academic support teams work closely with lecturers and tutors to
monitor students' academic performance and provide assistance where
necessary. CQ University's career support staff organise hands-on workshops in
resume preparation, job application skills, networking and interview techniques.
These workshops are available to assist students with their transition to
employment. Faculty also helps international students in exam preparation, how
to manage time and how to overcome stress and also provide support for the
students to achieve best results in academics.

Why Australia?

The lifestyle and quality of living in Australia is among the best in the
world. Several of Australia’s capital cities regularly rank among the world’s
‘most liveable’ cities. In 2014, the Economist Intelligence Unit's Global
Liveability Survey found that four Australian cities ranked in the world's top ten
most liveable cities. Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Perth ranked first, fifth,
seventh and ninth respectively, a feat not achieved by any US or UK city.
Australia is a popular study destination and has a strong international reputation
for higher education. The courses are monitored under CRICOS and ESOS act
which are run under Australian Government. Commonwealth Register of
Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students(CRICOS). The Education
Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework protects the rights of
international students studying in Australia. Australian education is practical
oriented where Indian education system is Theoretical. Australia offers globally
recognized degrees. Degrees which are accepted world wide for any job or
further studies. Affordable living expensive when compared to other countries.
High standard of living. Australia is giving an option of post study work (PSW)
which is an opportunity for international students to work even after studies and
gain an international experience.

WHY MELBOURNE?

Melbourne is the capital city of the state of Victoria, and the second most
populous city (after Sydney) in Australia. It has been named the world’s most
livable city two years in a row, as well as the best place for international
students to study. The QS World University Rankings listed Melbourne as the
leading student city in the Asia-Pacific region in 2012, putting it among the
world’s top four student cities alongside Paris, London, and Boston. So what
makes Melbourne such a great city for international students
.

WHY NOT STUDY IN INDIA?

In India, it is very difficult to get good universities which offer quality masters
program. If you look at certain areas like social sciences or humanities, there are
hardly any universities which offer good courses. Engineering/Medicine master
degrees are pretty good, but only in some premier institutes which have limited
seats in any given academic year. There is heavy competition for masters
program in India where the seats are limited and number of applications are
more. To do master degree we need to give GATE .Also due to strong
reservation based caste system getting admission in good University is difficult.
Indian system follows outdated curriculum and is revised in late intervals but
foreign education focus on the recent developments in a subject area. Indian
method of assessment is mostly examination based while foreign education
system assess students through assignments/essays, seminars etc. International
education gives you a global perspective and helps in developing cross cultural
skills, improving communication skills and building networks. Australian
Education system focus more towards self study and research. Finally, it gives
you confidence that you may carry throughout your life time.

WHY NOT STUDY IN OTHER COUNTRIES?

Australia may represent a better study destination than other popular

countries like the UK and USA because of the moderate climatic conditions.
The living and study cost of the UK and USA are very expensive due to high
exchange rate, some parts of the USA have Extreme climatic conditions.
USA: To study in USA I would need to appear for GRE & GMAT (Graduate
Management Admission Test) examinations and this takes about 6 months of
time to prepare. Their admission process is very lengthy and after all the efforts,
visa is always ambiguous.
UK: The Master’s program in UK is only for one year, which is not acceptable
in India Also the tuition fee is very high (GBP Conversion Ratio) that too for 1
year.
Career Plans:

Upon successful completion of the Master Of Engineering I will be recognized

as a graduate professional engineer in Australia. As an enginner, I will realize
carrer opportunities in a wide range of jobs such as Project Engineer - Power
Division,Principal Engineer - Power Systems Studies Planning,Electrical
Engineer – POWER,Power Projects Site Engineer - Transmission Lines.I would
like to work in Australia for a year or two and return back to my home country
to find a suitable job in any of the MNC companies in India which I worked for,
in Aaustrlia. The Master of engineering allows me to develop professional skills
such as teamwork and communication while applying the therotical knowledge
I gained during Masters.I am very confident with a globally recognized degree
& international work experience I will surely be able to find a decent job in an
MNC with an average salary per month. In the future, after I return to my home
country, my master’s degree will be very helpful for me in fetching a job. In
India there is a lot of scope for Power Engineering at my country India where
we have lot of MNC’s like ABB, RELIANCE, TATA,SIEMENS etc. I can able
to earn packages ranging from 6 to 8 lakhs approx, per annum as a Power
engineer

Reason to Return Home Country:

I would like to assure the authorities that after the completion of my

education I will be returning back to India as I am the only son, The major
responsibility of mine is to take necessary care of my parents in their growing
age and be with them. Hence, my return to India is inevitable to complete the
ambitions of my parents and my aim of working and achieving a successful
career in India. We have immovable assets around 1 crore approx., which will
be enjoyed by me only.

Obligation of Student under higher education Visa subclass 500:

I have also read and understood the student visa conditions under sub class 500.
I am aware that I should abide by the following visa conditions:
• I have to maintain 80%attendance.
• I cannot change the University for 6 Months upon enrolment.
• I must maintain OSHC for the entire duration of my course
• I have work limitation and can work for only 40hrs for fortnight.
• I have to maintain 50% pass grade through the program.
• I have to inform residential address and communication details to University /
DIBP after reaching Australia and if there are any changes in residential address
I need to inform to the university / DIBP within 7 Days.
I shall be grateful to you for providing me an opportunity to study in your
institution.

Thanking you,

Kadari Naveen Kumar
