Statement of Purpose

I, undersigned, Yashvi Vipulbhai Kasodariya, wish to pursue my master's degree at Swinburne

University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia.

Family Background:
As far as my family is concerned, I belong to a family consisting of 5 members, me, my younger
sister, my younger brother, my father and my mother. My father, Mr. Vipulbhai Jivrajbhai
Kasodariya is owner of Maruti Creation which is Textile firm, he buys raw materials from
suppliers and design it and sell to wholesalers and retailers. My mother, Mrs. Manishaben
Vipulbhai Kasodariya, is a fashion designer, she designs a traditional indian dresses and
represent at exhibitiom and also taking care of my family as a house-wife. My younger sister,
Miss Khushi Vipulbhai Kasodariya, is studying Bachelor of Commerce at Veer Narmad South
Gujarat University. My younger brother Mr. Avadh Vipulbhai Kasodariya is studying in 10 th std.
My father and mother have supported me in taking decision to study further and sponsoring me
for the same. They are my motivational factors behind my education and life.

My Education and Gap Explanation:

I have done my Bachelors of Engineering (Electronics and Communication) from Shree Swami
Atmanand Saraswati Institute Of Technology Affiliated with Gujarat Technological University
and completed the same in May 2019 with 7.71 CGPA. I have completed my Secondary school
certificate (SSC) from Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board at Ambaba
Girl’s High school in May-2013 with 94.13 percentile rank. I have done my Higher Secondary
Certificate (HSC) from the same board at Shree Sharda Vidhyamandir with 71.95 percentile rank
in May – 2015.

Theoretical knowledge of any concept is a half battle won as it lacks practical exposure and
hence it becomes very essential to acquire practical aspect of the various concepts that are being
taught in the classroom.I have also completed a summer internship as a part of my curriculum at
ACDC Tech, Surat. My responsibilities over there included to co-work with project makers team
and to do soldering of circuits. The internship helped me to learn the operation of different
controller and sensor with the help of internet connectivity and I was also able to assist with the
project using GSM module.

After my graduation, I decided to gain practical experience and to move towards computer
related courses as of students from computer and IT field get highly paid job and only electronics
part was not sufficient to get me my dream job. So, I started to learn online from you tube about
web developing with basic knowledge about HTML, CSS and JAVASCRIPT but that was not
sufficient. So, I started training related to IOT and web development work at ACDC Tech
Company from September-2019 to January-2021. I wanted to gain in-depth knowledge in my
area of interest and nowadays, in India masters degree is the basic requirement to get a good job.
So, I started preparing for my IELTS examination simultaneously as my parents motivated me to
go abroad for higher education. On 2 nd Nov 2019, I completed my IELTS examination with an
overall 6.5 bands. I started preparing for USA to pursue Master’s degree and started preparing
for GRE and scored 318 and then applied for the Fall-2020 intake but unfortunately COVID-19
has taken the place all over the world, I had to defer my admission from fall-2020 to spring-
2021. Then I appeared for the visa interview for spring-2021 intake on 18 th -19th November,2020
but unfortunately I got the rejection and then I have reapplied again on 13 th -15th December,2020.
However, again got the rejection and missed the intake. I was so disappointed as I have to again
wait until the next intake. Luckily, friend of mine who is currently studying at Australia
recommended me some universities with the exact course with astonishing specialization I was
looking forward to study in USA. And that brighten my eyes and I have seen the ray of hope that
I can study in Australia without wasting my time in waiting for US visa approval.

Why I choose Australia?

Growing Destination: Australia is dynamic, vibrant country with energetic, friendly people.
Multicultural Australia is English speaking and a safe and friendly society in which students can
learn and travel freely than others country.

Global Recognition: Australian qualifications are recognized by employers and leading

educational institutions in many countries around the world. Moreover, most courses and training
undertaken by international students in Australia are covered by Australian government. It is a
system of learning which is authorised by the Australian government.

Cost of Living: In Australia, a student gets value for money in terms of cost of living. The
conversion factor is cheaper compared to the UK or US. International students are able to work
part time while they study, allowing them to offset their living costs. There is also the possibility
of scholarships, which can help to lower the cost of studying in Australia for international
students.

Diversity of Education: Diversity Australia’s cutting edge research is used by human resource

professionals to develop their knowledge and to provide strategic direction to their
organizations.  As leading experts in the field of HR, Diversity Australia works closely with
leading academics, policy makers and business leaders.  Institutions in Australia offer a wide
variety of courses and degrees, so international students can easily find the school and field that
are right for them.

Technology: Australia has a reputation for adopting new technologies at a faster rate than in
most other countries and enters the new millennium with one of the highest rates of internet
access in the world. Facilities for teaching, training and research are world-class in terms of
state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms, outstanding libraries and modern technology.
Work: Students visiting the country are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week while they are
studying in Australia. Hopefully after reviewing this section you will know all you need to know
to work in Australia while you are an international student, and after you graduate. Working in
Australia is very easy to do while you are a student – after graduation, it's more difficult.
Remember, as an international student, you should never expect to live on the money you make
while studying, but the extra income can certainly help you meet your budget.

Why not study in other countries?

While I was doing a job, I started researching about where to pursue Master's degree and I found
that: in Indian university there are some questionable factors, like teaching techniques are old,
syllabus for the courses are not updated as per the industrial requirement, limited seats are not
available, lack of internship and practical training focus. USA is not a good choice as present
situation and news channels indicate numerous Chaos occurring with International students.
Besides crime ratio is also likewise high. Also, all the universities in US want students to qualify
other exams alongside IELTS, like GRE. Also, students have to pass visa interview which is
mostly based on Luck. As I have personally attended it twice. No matter, how strong your profile
is, or how strongly you are eligible with astonishing score and got the admit from top 100
university of the world. They do not care for an international students which leads me to turn my
back on USA. Canada has universities which provide master in Information Technology. But
weather in Canada is very severe and cold throughout the year, reaching more than 10 in almost
every region which is not bearable for me. UK has universities which rank alongside some of
the best universities of the world, although these universities offers master courses of 1 year to
16 months, which do not meet Indian industry requirement as they demand minimum 2-year
master degree from foreign countries. Moreover, living expenses and cost is high in comparison
with Australia.

Why I Choose Swinburne University?

Choosing Swinburne University comes from the wholehearted research about universities in
Australia. Even though there are number of good universities down under, Melbourne is a great
destination in which to live and study. The city has been named the most livable city in the world
for the seventh consecutive year by the Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Livability Index

leading the way in science, technology, business, design and innovation. Swinburne has three
campuses in Melbourne and one in Malaysia. The main campus is in Hawthorn, set among the
vibrant cafes, restaurants and boutiques of Glenferrie Road and just 10 minutes from central
Melbourne by train. Hawthorn campus is a vibrant community offering a state-of-the-art learning
environment and a desirable student lifestyle. The Advanced Technologies Centre and Advanced
Manufacturing and Design Centre are part of recent multi million-dollar additions and
refurbishments. With a railway station practically on campus, i will have easy access to the
world’s most livable city. Swinburne University also ranked in Top 200 in Graduate Employ-
ability – QS Graduate Employ-ability Rankings, 2016. Thus, Good atmosphere with top level
education attracts me to study at Swinburne university.

Why I choose Master of Information Technology ?

I choose Master of Information Technology because Information technology is incredibly
diverse and it’s not just about fixing computers or laptops. This course will allow me to take my
career in a number of different directions. Careers vary from a technical writer, web developer,
information technology director, chief technology officer and so much more. IT graduates will
also be prepared to specialize in far wider areas of interest. The job market in computing and
information technology is growing. These jobs require skill, training and a logical thinking
process. Many of these careers are demanding and stressful but most offer a hefty financial
reward.

The Masters of Information Technology program is offered by top ranking Australian

Universities and the program typically lasts from 1.5 - 2 years and the fees vary from
approximately AU$ 26,000 to AU$ 36,000 per year. This course is for 2 years with 12 cores & 4
elective subjects. Moreover, the need for MS of Information Technology is at a steep rise, which
reinforces my decision to pursue a research-oriented career in Information Technology field. A
number of universities offer the option of doing a Masters in Information Technology with a
specialization, such as, business intelligence, data mining, big data management, cloud and
mobile computing, ERP, SAP), security, networking, games design and production and many
more.

As mentioned earlier, there are many careers to follow when specializing in information
technology. As technology progresses the need for information technology professionals will
only increase. And the better your skill set the more in demand your expertise will be.  With jobs
being so scarce, the information technology industry continues to show a promising demand
trend. Majoring in information technology will expose you to a lot of opportunities and jobs. It
doesn’t matter in which field of information technology you’re specializing in, there are jobs in
this industry.

Studying something you love will give you a sense of achievement. You’ll have a new way of
doing things. If you’re really fascinated by the technology world, why not take it a step further?
Your future starts now. And passing this course is one of the most important milestones in your
life, it’s the key to finding your dream job. And what better way to turning a pastime into a full-
time career.

After completion of my course my Future plan:

After completing Master of Information Technology at Swinburne University, I will have
practical knowledge and skills which will help me a lot to get job in Australia base on 2
years post study work visa and obtain an international industry experience, which will aid
me after coming back to India. I can look for job opportunities at varied job websites like
seek.com, careerjet, Gumtree jobs, careerone etc. I believe that an international work
experience from Australia will place me ahead of my competitors. Also, I will have cross
culture experience; technical knowledge and the ability to use the English language
effectively for business communication separate me from those people, who will complete
their graduation from India. And these few points will increase my chances to get job in
high reputed companies in India.
Nowadays, there are huge demands in IT field in my home county as well as our prime minister
Narendra Modi launched Digital India campaign which is attract many foreign companies like
Niki.ai, Mad Street Den, Embibe, Artivatic Data Labs, SigTuple etc. Many multinational
companies like Asimov Robotics, Sastra Robotics, Grey Orange, Infosys, Wipro, Hexaware
Technologies, TATA and foreign companies as I mention above have invested many projects in
India and they attract many freshers in their projects especially who have completed their
education from globally recognized university like Swinburne. So,after getting work experience
from Australia, I will come back to my home country. And then, I will have opportunity to
working IT companies like Niki.ai, Mad Street Den, Asimov Robotics, Sastra Robotics, Grey
Orange, Infosys, Wipro, Hexaware Technologies, TATA etc. On the designation like Computer
and Information Research Scientists or Computer Programmer on an annual average package of
8 to 10 lakh (INR) in my home country India. But if I compare graduation from India, I may get
the package of 2 to 3 lakh per annum which is very less. And, I am sure that, I will able to
recover my all study related expenses within 4 to 5 years after coming back to India. I will look
for job opportunities through various job websites and Android App such as indeed.com,
LinkedIn, Freshers world, naukri.com and Quikr etc.

Here, with my international degree and Post study work experience, I can easily get the job with
salary package around 8 to 10 lakh per annum which will surely recover my entire cost of study
of around 25 to 30 lakh that I am investing right now. I am also convinced that after 3 to 4 years
down the line my annual package will be around 1 million as the IT industry seems very
promising in India at the moment. So, by doing job at those companies, I can execute my
knowledge and get expertise experience in this field which will help me to understand current
industrial scenario. By having this exposure, I would like start my own business which is quite
possible in developing country like India as rules and regulation are very liberal and also
government promoting new comers. Ever since the world stepped into the digital age, IT has
experienced unprecedented growth. The field has progressed exponentially and it shows no signs
of slowing down soon. Along with a number of specializations offered in the course like
programming, development, designing, multimedia, etc. The scope for an IT professional has
never been better. To add to it, there are lots of career prospects for studying in master of
information technology such as Software Engineer, Computer Programmer, Java Developer,
Project Manager, Web Developer, IT Consultant, Network Administrator, Security Expert and so
on.
