Assignment: Argumentative Essay

Fashion trends are difficult to follow these days and it’s widely believed that they primarily
exist just to sell clothes. Some people believe that we shouldn’t follow them and that we should
dress in what we like and feel comfortable in. To what extent do you agree or disagree with
this opinion?

Fashion Trends Nowadays

In this decade, fashion trends have become very popular specially in young generation and they
are very concern about new fashion trends. Fashion is always changeable. Most of the people of
young generation believe that wearing light up trendy cloth is fashion. On the contrary, some
people believe that wearing comfortable cloth is fashion. Fashion keeps on changing with the
change of trends (Simmel, 1957). However, fashion is necessary in every generation and we
follow these fashion trends by reading magazines and vogue where all kind of fashion trends are
released.

In this modern era, everyman wants to be modern and they always want to follow new trend so
that they are unique. When people wear cloth, they choose new and modern cloth to wear.
Because old fashion cloth can make them backdated. Besides, they think that old fashion cloth
doesn’t match with their personality. Man is very conscious about look by born, so people don’t
want to be backdated. Some people seek public attention and feel like they don’t live like certain
standards. This is why they always follow new trends (Venkatasamy, 2015). Fashion cloth is not
normally comfortable though. Because those cloth are made to focus on style only. For instance,
tight jean is one kind of fashion cloth for young generation but this cloth is not comfortable
specially in summer season Wearing jean pant is a problem in summer season, still we see
maximum young wear jean in everywhere. High hill is another example which hurts female feet.
Female is still using high hill to be fashionable. So, fashion is nothing but brag. We should wear
dress in which we feel comfortable.
Secondly, fashion trends are changeable. As a result, it is difficult to follow up the new fashion
trend. Besides, dress up shows our family background and our personality as well. People choose
dress up and fashion based on their culture and society where they belong. Sometimes, dress up
represents culture and historical story as well (Sameera, 2021). As dress up represents so many
things and it is based on culture, not everyone likes same type of fashionable cloth. Some people
like casual dress, some people like formal dress and some people like trendy dress. This is why
many clothing brands are introducing different kinds of dresses (Drake, 2016).
Finally, it is showing that fashion varies from man to man. Some people wear normal dress but
those are appropriate with their bodies. Again, some people wear stylish cloth and they look
perfect and it matches with their personality as well. Though a lot of people don’t go with trendy
fashion, style or fashion makes a man smarter and acceptable in everywhere.
To conclude, following fashion trends or style is not mandatory. We should wear dress what is
comfortable and suitable. Everyman should follow his/her own style whether it is old style or
new style.
