How is current knowledge shaped by its historical development

The prompt “how is current knowledge shaped by its historical development” is shown to be
explained by how influenced current knowledge by the historical time period it was developed in this
is often influenced by the ideas beliefs and values of the time period it was developed in. Due to
current knowledge being so greatly effect by it historical development as without certain historical
developments current knowledge wouldn’t exist.

My first object is my fathers bible which has a large amount of influence on me and my family as it
has been passed down from my fathers father to him. The bible is a book with a collection of
religious texts that influence millions of peoples values and beliefs. The bibles historical development
can be traced back thousands of years. The bibles affect is still felt to this day shaping peoples
religion and their values even though the texts were written thousands of years back. My dads bible
has the same texts as the bible had when Martin Luther king translated it and therefore the historical
development has shaped my faith and my beliefs. The bible has had many affects on peoples lives
and due to its historical development it has been made accessible to everyone give everyone an
equal chance to be faithful. I choose my fathers bible as it is one of the first memories I have is
listening to him read that bible on Christmas reading the story of the birth of christ which was
assumed to happen about 2023 years ago the story however has remained the same however it was
translated so that we were able to enjoy that story and due to historical development I was able to
enjoy that same story every year. By understanding the bibles historical development I can gain a
deeper understanding on its influence on me with my beliefs. I chose my fathers bible to link with
this prompt as the historical development for the bible such as translations shaped religion and
values and beliefs of people such as me.
My second object is my old iPod 4 pro it is my first touch screen mobile devise I ever got and It got
passed down from my brother. The development of the iPod can be traced back to similar devices in
the past and even linked to the historical development of music and audio technology as the iPod
has access to music video and other media. The iPod is the product of centuries of historical
development from the creation of technology to the first iPod. The historical development has lead
to me being able to have my first touch screen mobile devices which I cherished for a long time. The
iPod played a major part in my life growing up as it lead me be able to go out on my own as through
it I was able to contact my parents and it gave me more freedom. The since the iPod was a hand me
down it effected me even more when it broke as it belonged to my brother and had images and
more. The iPod played a major role in todays knowledge the development as the iPod 4 pro was a
key inspiration to the modern phone since it was the first apple company touch screen devise and
from there the iPhone was born. By examining the history of technology we can see how the
historical development of audio technology and more lead us to understand how lucky we are to
have the option to have access to this technology. I chose the iPod 4 pro as it was my first devise so I
had a deep connection with it. Furthermore the prompt was directly linked as the historical
development shaped the knowledge needed to create the iPod and therefore had a direct link both
emotionally with me and with the prompt.
My Final object is a map that is hanging in my room this map was in my room for as long as I can
remember. It has been one of the most effected items by its historical development since its creation
in 6th century BCE("This is how the world has been mapped throughout history," 2019) to the first
design of the current map we see as now which was the first design of my map dating to 1569
(National Geographic Society, 2022). The world map is a tool that is used to understand geography of
the earth and its many different places however it wasn’t always used like that. Before phones and
navigation systems many sailors used maps to travel around the world and maps were created by
looking to the stars to navigate. The way that we interpret the world was due to the historical
development of different maps and different people exploring the world. My map played a role in my
life as I spent a lot of time marking where I have been and where I wanna go. Furthermore without
people exploring the world and historical development people such as me would not be able to have
this experience. Moreover the map has been used for military campaigns. Our current knowledge of
the world could not be shaped without the historical context and development in which the map was
produced. I chose the map as it has created for me a lot of joyful memories and still whenever I head
home I see the map the map also fit well with the prompt as the map had a lot of historical
developments and without them we would not be able to navigate fly and sail as the map has made
all of that possible as the map paved the way to navigation.
