DIFFUSION AND OSMOSIS

PROCEDURE:
A. DIFFUSION. Put a 2ml of 10% CuSO4 solution in a test tube.
Incline the test tube and carefully add 3ml of distilled
water. Note the time it takes for the entire body of fluid
to have the same color.
Result: ________________________________________________________

Repeat the test using 2ml of 10% Methylene Blue instead of 10%
CuSO4.
Result: ________________________________________________________

B. OSMOSIS. Prepare 4 test tubes containing 2 drops of

defibrinated blood. Label test tube number 4 as “CONTROL”.
To test tube number 1, add 1ml 0.9% NaCl solution, to test
tube number 2, add 1ml of 0.1M NaCl solution and to test
tube number 3, add 1ml of 1.0M NaCl. Examine the results of
each test tube under a microscope. Record your observation.
