Project:

230 Vrms input voltage in to 5 DC voltage supply

Introduction:
The conversion of AC voltage into DC voltage is called Rectification. Rectification is carried out by
using diodes which convert sinosuidal AC wave into positive peak using rectifier. In this procedure we use AC power
supply which convert into DC source. When converting Vrms AC voltage to DC voltage, the theoretical relationship is
determinedby the nature of the AC waveform ,the conversion factor involves the square root of 2.

Components:
Folowing are the components we used in this project on MULTISIM.

i. Transformer
ii. FWB diode
iii. A resisitor
iv. Zener diode

Working:
i. Transformers can easily increase or decrease the voltage by corresponding increase or
decrease in the current. The basic principle behind the working of transformer is the
phenomenon of Mutual induction between two windings linked by common magnetic
flux.
ii. It is a bridge rectifier made by four diodes to form a close loop bridge. The diodes con
duct in pairs through positive and negative half cycle leading to no wasteage of power.
iii. .Resistor provides electrical resistance and limits the flow of electrical charges.
iv. As the reverse voltage increase the predetermined voltage a current starts flowing through
the diode
Applications:
Power supplies have wide range of applications across daily life appliances and in our industries.Following are
the some applications of the power supplies.

a. Electronic Devices: Power supplies are commonly used in our daily life electronic devices such
as smart phones, laptops, tablets, and ceamras to convert electrical energy in to
desired and required voltage and current for proper device operation.

b. Home Appliances: Devices like refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens, and
televisions rely on the power supplies to convert electrical energy into appropriate form of
needed for their operation.

c. Charging Devices: Power supplies are the essential for charging battries in devices like electric
toothbrushes, power tools and rechargeables battries for various gadgets.

b. Lighting: LED drivers and ballasts are the types of the power supplies used in lighting systems to
regulate and control the power provided to light sources, ensuring proper illumination.

c. Computers and Servers: Power supplies in computers and servers convert AC power from wall outlet
into DC power required by internal components, ensuring stable and reliable operation.

d. Medical Equipment: Power supplies are critical in medical devices such as imaging equipment, patient
monitors, and life support systems, ensuring precise and reliable power delivery.

e. Communication devices: Power supplies are used in the communivation equipment like routers,
modems, and networking devices to provide stable power for data transmission and reception.

f. Automotive Electronics: In vehicles, power supplies are used for various purposes, included the
charging systems, engine control units, and entertainment systems.
h. Power Tools: Electric power tools, ranging from drills to saws, use power supplies to convert electrical
energy into the appropriate forms for efficient tool operation.

i. Entertainment Systems: Audio and vedio equipment, such as amplifiers, speakers, and TVs, rely on
power supplies to deliver the necessary power for optimal performance.

In summary, the power supplies are ubiquitous in our daily lives, facilitating the proper
functioning of the numerous electronic devices and systems we rely on for comfort communication ,
entertainment, and healthcare.
Conclusion:
The experiment has been performed and patch on multisim correctly and the required power
supply has been created. The circuits that are patched on multisim and it produced good results.the circuit
building was fun and interesting and the concepts was clear. The block diagram is also made and the concept
become more clear. The overall conclusion is that the power supply has been made and learned.
