PREFACE

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to God, who has given the
writer strength , healthy, and opportunity to finish this module writing project
and submit it in time. Greeting and pray, love and longing, I present to our beloved
God, who had guided us from the foolish era to the knowledge era.

We express our gratitude from various parties who have assisted in the
process of completing this teaching material, especially to Mrs. Yuvita as the
supervisor for the preparation of this teaching material.

This module discusses about analytical exposition text that can enrich the
skills in explaining arguments about the phenomenon surrounding. The social
function of this text is to convince the audience that his/her idea is an important
matter

In arranging this module, I truly get challenges and obstructions but I could
passed it with the help of many individuals. Because of that I would like to say
thank you to all individuals who helped me in the process writing this module. May
God bless you all.

I realize this module still imperfect in arrangement and the content. Then I

ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT

A. INTRODUCTION
1. Description
Analytical Exposition belongs to argumentative texts. Through this type of texts, the
writer/speaker elaborates his/her idea about the phenomenon surrounding. The purpose is to
convince the audience that his/her idea is an important matter.

2. Relevance
Analytical expositions are widely used in various media today. In order to get the
students acquainted with this type of text, teachers of English need to have better insights into
and good mastery of it. Through learn about analytical text the students expected can improve
their ability in reading, writing and also their vocabulary. They identify, analyze and create the
text.

3. Learning Guide

In this learning activities the students will:


 Warming up
Students analyze the pictures given and give their argument about the picture
based on their general knowledge. Teacher acquaint about Analytical Exposition
text in general.
 Main activity
 Teacher presents video about analytical exposition text.

 Teacher gives examples in texts and ask the students to discuss and
analyze thesis, argument, and reiteration.
 After finished the discussion teacher guides the students in group

Students have to know that the main function of this text to create their
own-created Analytical Exposition text.

Analytical exposition text is a text that elaborates the writer’s idea about the
phenomenon surrounding

Thesis: Introducing the topic and indicating the writer‘s point of view.
Argument: Explaining the argument to support the writer‘s position. The number of
arguments may vary, but each argument must be supported by evidence and
explanation.
Reiteration: Restating the writer‘s point of view / to strengthen the thesis. We can
make conclusion in reiteration
c. Social Function
An Analytical Exposition is intended by the writer/speaker: To convince the audience that
his/her idea is an important matter.
d. Language Features
Analytical Exposition has its characteristics, especially in terms of grammar, vocabulary,
and expressions.

Text 1

The Unhealthy Fast Food


Fast food nowadays is considered a normal eating venture. People are not just eating out on special
occasions or weekends anymore. It means that all the time they mostly eat fast foods. However is fast
food good for health?
Fast food has its popularity in the 1940’s. Within a few years, fast-food operations popped up everywhere.
With the compelling rise in fast-food restaurants since the 1940’s, oddly it started the rise in obesity and
cancer during that same time period.
Fast food is highly processed with a wide array of additives. To ensure fast food’s low cost, the fast food
products are made with highly-processed ingredients to give it shelf-life, to hold consistency, and to
enhance flavor. Fast food is altered from its original healthy form.
It is not the calories in fast food which damage health and waistline. It is the chemical additives such as
aspartame and MSG (monosodium glutamate). Studies show that the chemical additives lead to weight
and disease issues.
So, there is absolutely nothing nutritional about fast food. Fast food simply feeds hunger and craving.

The Importance of Learning English
Language is the mean of communication. Mostly groups of society have their own languages. Some of
them appear the top global languages. Most people in the world hear about English, Arabic, and
Mandarin. However English is the most global spoken language. Then if a man wants to catch a global
goal, he has to master English.
Everyone recognize that English is an international language. English is used in writing and speaking by
many people all over the world. It can be either as a first or second language. We even hear British,
American, Australian, and even Singaporean English. Those various names of English are used as the
first language in those countries. Furthermore, some countries have their own languages as a mother
language but also use English mostly in daily communication.
Besides usage in daily interaction, English is also used as a key to open doors leading to scientific and
technical knowledge. No wonder we find manual guides and instructions of many devices written in
English. Even if we have a pack of instant noodle, we will see the cooking instruction also written in
English. This transfer of science and technical will include many countries in economic, social and politics
development.
Finally, the most easily seen in the importance of learning English is that most top requirement in filling
job opportunities is the ability using English; active or passive. Job applicants who master English are
more favorable than ones who do not.
The above facts prove that everybody needs to learn English if he likes to greet the global era.

Laptop as Students Friend

Conventionally, students need book, pen, eraser, drawing pages, ruler and such other stuffs. Additionally,
in this multimedia era, students need more to reach their progressive development. Students need mobile
keyboards to record every presented subject easily. Of course it will need more cost but it will deserve for
its function.
First, modern schools tend to apply fast transferring knowledge because the school needs to catch the
target of curriculum. Every subject will tend to be given in demonstrative method. Consequently students
need extra media cover the subject. Since there is a laptop on every students’ desk, this method will help
student to get better understanding.
Secondly, finding an appropriate laptop is not difficult as it was. Recently there is an online shop which
provides comprehensive information. The best is that the shop has service of online shopping. The
students just need to brows that online shop, decide which computer or laptop they need, then complete
the transaction. After that the laptop will be delivered to the students’ houses. That is really easy and save
time and money.
From all of that, having mobile computer or laptop is absolutely useful for students who want to catch the
best result for their study. Buying laptop online is advisable because it will cut the price. This online way is
recommended since online shop also provide several laptop types. Students just need to decide which
type they really need.

text to create their own-created Analytical Exposition text.

C. CLOSING SECTION
Summary

Analytical Exposition is a text that elaborates the writers idea about the phenomenon

surrounding. An Analytical Exposition is intended by the writer/speaker to persuade the

audience that his/her idea is indeed an important issue, and to analyze the topic that the

thesis/opinion is correct by developing an argument to support it.

An Analytical Exposition consists of three components:

1. Thesis: Introducing the topic and indicating the writer‘s point of view.

2. Argument: Explaining the argument to support the writer‘s position. The number of

arguments may vary, but each argument must be supported by evidence and

explanation.

3. Reiteration: Restating the writer‘s point of view / to strengthen the thesis. We can

make conclusion in reiteration.
