Interest

I am an AB English student at Jose Rizal University. I am to undertake an exploration of


the influence of artificial intelligence integration on JRU high schools’ academic
performance and writing skills development. I learned that the use of AI nowadays,
specifically in writing essays, is uncontrolled. The post of a high school English teacher
from Tacloban City went viral when she expressed her disappointment with her class,
as most of the students used AI as a tool to write an essay. Consequently, it gave me a
notion to research, and I subsequently engaged in discussion with high school teachers,
receiving affirmation.

Concern
Respondents: English teachers from JRU High school

Essay writing is one of the approaches of the instructors in assessing the student's
knowledge and understanding of their vocabulary advancement. With the extensive
utilization of technology nowadays, identifying AI's influence in JRU High school
education is crucial for establishing a potential learning environment. Writing is one of
the effective communication skills for exchanging experiences, thoughts, and ideas. AI-
generated writing, however, makes pupils become reliant on it and use it as an escape
from writing through their perspective. Furthermore, as an English major, it intrigues me
to look for the effectiveness and potentiality of blending instruction with the assistance
of artificial intelligence in learning English writing.

Assumptions
1. Students tend to submit AI-generated writings for its convenience.
2. The lack of full-time English teachers in schools slows the learning process of the
student's writing in English.
3. AI can be utilized in the conversion of information into knowledge.
4. AI can assist students in recommending relevant sources that can help enhance the
profoundness of their outputs.
Research Objectives:

1. Evaluate the high school students’ artificial intelligence apps accessibility and the
school English teachers' insufficiency that affects the students’ writing skills
development.
2. Examine the influences in the integration of artificial intelligence output in English
writing to the students.
3. Explore the influences of integrating artificial intelligence outputs and their impact
on the academic performance and writing development skills of high school
students.

Statement of the PROBLEM:

This study titled “The Influence of Artificial Intelligence Integration among JRU
High Schools’ Academic Performance and Writing Skills Development” aims to
identify the high school students’ artificial intelligence app accessibility and the
school English teachers' insufficiency that affects the students’ writing skills
development. Additionally, it will examine the influences in the integration of
artificial intelligence output in English writing to the students. Lastly, it will create
a learning hub that promotes excellence in academic performance by integrating
artificial intelligence into English writing.

While this study provides valuable insights, the researchers aim to investigate the
impact of artificial intelligence integration on JRU High schools’ academic performance
and writing skills development. The results will guide the academe and faculty in
improving students' skills and developing the potential to teach and learn in English
writing supported by artificial intelligence.
