REQUIREMENT FOR 33KV INCOMER PANEL AND 220KV BAY EXTENSION FOR REDUNDANCY AT

SUBSTATION –

The wind farm has a 220/33kV site substation with one 220kV transformer bay connected to
one incomer panel which connects the transmission system with the wind farm's 33kV
collector system. A functional electrical design along with the single line diagram shall form
the basis for the design.

A redundancy plan is required for main incomer panel for the 33kV schneider switchgear, main
transformer and 220kV switchyard equipment.

The plan will be achieved in two phases as follows.

Phase 1.

Inclusion of an additional stand-by incomer panel into the existing 33kV schneider switchgear
then running MV underground cables to the existing step-up transformer, in readiness for a
quick change-over. Please note, only one incomer panel shall be in operation at a time.

Phase 2.

A 220kV bay will be constructed which will have an additional step-up transformer, metering
system and the corresponding connection facilities and metering system to the existing bay at
the point of delivery.

Detailed design work Requirements

Phase 1. Requirement.

1. Use of existing as-built drawings to achieve required design to incorporate 33kV incomer panel
to the existing 33kV switchgear.
2. Listing of all material required for 33kV switchgear additional incomer panel incorporation.
3. Design layout for the switchgear with additional panel(s).
4. Calculations for selection of equipment and cables.
5. Design drawings for secondary circuits for the additional panel(s).
6. Protection design including the additional equipment.
7. Construction instructions for civil work and electrical work.
8. Design update for mechanical and electrical interlocks for the switchgear.
9. Design drawings for all civil work including cable trenches and dimensions.
10. Design drawing for all electrical work including equipment ratings.

Phase 2. Requirements.

1. Use of developed drawing (1) above to incorporate an additional main transformer bay
which will include step up transformer, 220kV switchyard equipment, 220kV coupling
busbar and gantry, metering equipment and protection scheme.
2. Listing of all equipment required for 220kV bay extension and associated sections
including metering and protection.
3. Calculations for selection of equipment and cables.
4. Design layout for the substation including additional bay and busbar.
5. Updated Design drawings for all secondary circuits.
6. Updated substation protection scheme.
7. Design update for mechanical and electrical interlocks.
8. Design drawing for all electrical work including equipment ratings.
9. Construction instructions for all civil work and electrical work.

Design Instructions

design of civil and electrical works.
• Kipeto reserves the right to request copies of drawings, calculations and comment on
the same as required.
• All electrical works shall be designed to operate in accordance and comply with all
applicable acts, regulations, codes of practice and standards including but not limited
to; Grid Code, KS IEC 61936-1:2002 Power Installations exceeding 1 kV AC and all
associated standards shall be used as a base for the design.
• The electrical design shall be supported by detailed design reports and calculations in
accordance with relevant IEC and KS IEC standards, including earthing design, load flow
study and MV cable losses report, short circuit report, protection design including
recommended settings and device co-ordination study and harmonic studies.
• The Contractor’s detailed design should attempt to balance operational flexibility,
capital cost and electrical losses.
• The design should match the existing design including OEMs and ratings where
applicable.
