Procrastination is the unnecessary delaying or postponing of tasks despite knowing it may have negative consequences. When procrastinating, people often avoid tasks by saying they will do them later or spending extra time on distracting activities like social media. Studies show procrastinating causes more stress than actually doing the task. Some ways to reduce procrastination include using a countdown technique to start tasks, keeping one's environment organized, and tricking oneself into working on a task for just five minutes at a time. Overcoming procrastination is important for achieving one's full potential and maintaining a positive mood.

How many times have you said:“ I’ll do this tomorrow”
or “just one more video” or “five more minutes”? Maybe you were avoiding the task , overestimated the amount of time and energy needed to finish the task, or you just didn’t want to stop scrolling on social media. This “delaying” is known as Procrastination.
You might have been wondering what procrastination is.
It is the unnecessary delaying or postponing of a task, knowing that doing so may have negative consequences. We’ve all been there, for example the important project is due tomorrow , but then we keep procrastinating, pushing it to the next hour and then the next until it’s time to end the day and you’ve accomplished nothing. . Studies have shown that avoiding a task consumes a lot more energy and causes a lot more nervousness than actually doing it. Procrastination can come from mental issues, low self- esteem, or poor study habits. It can detain you from achieving your full potential, can put you in a bad mood, and can cause a lot of anxiety. Procrastination is definetely a negative trait that we MUST get rid of. So, what can we do to reduce procrastination? Personally, I use the “3-2-1” technique. For example, if I’m delaying something that I want to do, I would count down to myself. the moment I reach 1 I would automatically get up and start doing the task. Your environment may also cause you to procrastinate. For instance, if the room you study in is messy, organize it and you’ll feel a lot more productive. Another way you can deal with procrastination is tricking yourself into doing the task for only five minutes. Set up a timer for 5 minutes and start doing your work, eventually you will end up finishing significant amount of your task.
To put in a nutshell, procrastination causes long-term
harm and can be eliminated in several ways. We all have the times we might not feel like doing a task, but we’ll all eventually have to overcome the unwillingness in one way or another. This is Daaniah Hana Lily and Heba, thank you for listening and have a goodmorning!
