Topic: Parts of a Flower

1. Petals- They come in various shapes and sizes. They function for protection and
attraction. Their bright colours and scent attract agents of pollination.

2. Sepals- Sepals are typically green. They protect the flower when it is still a bud.

3. Receptacle- It supports the entire flower.

4. Pistil- The female reproductive organ of a flower. It is made up of three parts:

a) Stigma- The swollen tip of the pistil.

b) Style- The long, slender tube that connects the stigma and the ovary.

c) Ovary- The enlarged basal option of the pistil that house the ovule.

5. Stamen- The male reproductive organ of a flower. It is made up of two parts:

a) Anther- The expanded and lobular structure at the tip of the filament. It is
the pollen organ of the flower.

b) Filament- The stalk that holds the anther.
