PROJECT GUIDE H.C.E.D. PRINCIPAL
Green Building:

Green Building is a building that, because of its construction and features, can
maintain or improve the quality of life of the environment in which it is located.
Green Building promotes the efficiency of buildings with regards to the use of
water, energy and materials while reducing the building’s impact on individual’s
health and the environment through better design, construction, operation,
maintenance and removal.
Green building has to save water 36-40%, save energy 30-40% and save material
25-40% compared to conventional building. Green building is which one high
thermal insulations, rain water harvesting, terrace gardening, ventilation and
energy efficient . The seven green building components include environmentally
friendly building materials, energy efficiency, and renewable energy, indoor air
quality, water efficiency, waste reduction, smart growth, sustainable
development, and toxics reduction.
Advantages of Green Building:
1. Reduction of natural resource consumption
2. Reduction of operating costs
3. Health, comfort and safety for all residents Energy optimization and
reduction of energy consumption
4. Increased productivity of the occupants
5. Better indoor air quality (IAQ has a tremendous impact on human health)
6. Green Building encourages companies to benefit from the Green corporate
image and to leave a very positive impression on customers, employees,
business partners and shareholders.

Disadvantages of Green Building

1. High Initial Investment
2. Getting the Right Material = It can be far-fetched to get the materials
needed to construct green buildings. They are not often available in
every part of the world and might take a while and cost a lot to ship.
3. Longer Time to Build
4. Uncontrollable Air Temperature: Often, it is not easy to control the air
temperature in green buildings. These eco-friendly buildings utilize the
sun to generate power; thus, they run on heat, and the air is controlled
from one central point
5. Location = Figuring out the right location is another disadvantage of
green buildings. It is primarily because of climatic changes. Green
buildings utilize the sunlight as much as possible, so using energy
alternatives such as solar, building in a region with very few sunny days
would be a wrong location because you would likely run out of energy at
some point.
6. Unavailability of Workers With Expertise
Conventional or Traditional Building:

Conventional buildings have traditionally been built using bricks, concrete and
steel; Conventional buildings on the other hand are traditional buildings consisting
of steel, brick and cement sections. These are fabricated and assembled at the
site. Conventional building method involves welding and cutting, which is done
largely at the construction sites
These buildings are constructed for Long Duration (Durability) Strength and
aesthetically looking beautiful but while constructing there is no major
consideration of there impact on Environment.
While constructing these buildings produces lots of waste, these buildings can
hazard the environment but these are very good in Durability Strength and
Aesthetically.

Advantages of Traditional Building

1. Conventional buildings are not as healthier as Green Building
2. Construction cost is lesser than green buildings but maintenance charge is
high so in the long run they are expensive than the green building
3. Can be built anywhere
4. Easy to get workers who can construct conventional b
5. It embraces various building shapes.
6. It can be assumed to be more or less monolithic.
7. Connection are homogeneous with rest of the frame.

8. It is easily used for two way structural systems.

9. It is not necessary to pay for crane on site.
10.Construction can proceed independently of weather conditions.
11.Better working conditions for the building operatives.

Disadvantages of Traditional Building:

1. Non-Eco-friendly
2. Needs high labour numbers and plant on site.
3. Erection of formwork is time consuming.
4. The quality control is difficult.
5. Once the concrete has been cast it is to difficult to do any modifications.
6. weather can create problems for curing, and for construction itself
Conclusion
Green buildings are now preferred more by the contractors and the
would-be inhabitants. Several famous cities have embraced this
approach and have set up councils for determining the factors and
regulations for giving a newly-made building a “green” stamp.
Studies have shown a value-added lifestyle in the occupants of green
buildings. With the still increasing pollution and population levels, a
way is required to arrange for more residence and improvement of
the environment. Well, to say clearly, green buildings can be an
essential part of that target.
