This abstract outline a project proposal for development and design of a sustainable high-rise

building that incorporates recycled materials. The objective of our senior design project is to
explore innovative solutions for constructing environmentally friendly structures and minimizing
waste generation.

The proposed sustainable high-rise building aims to minimize resource consumption and reduce
waste generation by utilizing recycled materials throughout the construction process. The project
aims to promote the reuse and repurposing of materials, thereby reducing the reliance on traditional
raw materials and minimizing the environmental impact associated with their extraction and
manufacturing. The design will include suitable recycled materials that meet structural
requirements, durability standards, and aesthetic considerations for high-rise buildings. Cast iron
slag is one of the recycled materials that has the potential to serve as a viable alternative to
traditional construction materials, such as cement and aggregate which have significant
environmental drawbacks. It provides several benefits, including improved workability, increased
strength, and enhanced durability of the concrete. Other recycled materials can be used also in the
design such as Ceramic waste powder that can be used as a partial replacement of cement or
aggregate.

In conclusion, the integration of recycled materials in the design of high-rise buildings represents
a significant step towards sustainable and responsible construction practices. By reducing the
demand for virgin resources, we can create structures that not only meet the functional
requirements but also contribute positively to the environment.
