1. Consider the following dataset of sleep duration (in hours) of a person for 20 days.

Answer the following questions based on the above-mentioned dataset.

a) Calculate the mean, median, mode and variance of the dataset. (7 points)
b) Calculate the IQR. (2 points)
c) Are there any extreme values in the dataset in your opinion? Justify your standing. If you
think there exist some extreme values, identify those data points and calculate the trimmed
mean without considering those points. (3 points)
d) Assume that there is another dataset showing sleep duration of another person. This dataset
also has 20 data points with the same mean and median as does the above-mentioned
dataset. However, the dataset shows a variance of 2.5. Compare the characteristics of these
two datasets in the context of the variance. (3 points)
