November Character Trait: Perseverance

October Success Assembly: Teamwork
Congratulations to the following students who were recognized at the October Success Assembly: Cam, Mikaela, and Sarah. Remembrance Day Assembly, Nov. 11, 10:15am We invite our families to join us as we take time to respectfully reflect on the sacrifices made for our freedom and peace. Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding. - Albert Einstein

Bully Awareness Week

During the week of Nov. 14-17, students and staff will be engaged in a variety of activities and discussions. Our goal is to provide our students with the tools and build confidence to manage conflict in a respectful, safe and appropriate manner.

Progress Reports
Progress Reports go home Nov. 16.
Students in our class have been preparing portfolios highlighting work and learning. 3Way Conferencing is a valuable process where students, parents and teachers discuss together student strengths, areas of need and next steps. I hope to see my students attend the November interviews in order to be a collaborative member of the interview process. There is much value in including our students to our interviews. Interviews will take place on Nov.17 & 18.

The VandenBos Art Project

CMV students and staff are very excited as we will be participating on a fantastic artistic journey this month. Professional artists will be working with each class as they contribute their artistic work to a monumental tile mosaic creation. An additional component which makes us very proud is that the project will be created using reusable and recyclable materials. We are inviting all community members to be a part of our work by donating metallic circles, such as frozen juice container lids, paint can lids, anything round and metallic will do, any size. What a wonderful opportunity to bring art and teamwork together to create a long-lasting work of art

Current Events Does your child read the newspaper? We have been focusing on summary writing and reading a variety of articles in class. I encourage you to find out what your child is reading. We will be starting Letter Writing in preparation for Eva Olsens visit at the end of Nov. Please make sure your child has an independent novel to read at all times. We will also be discussing the characteristics of different types of texts. Oral Language will also be a focus each term as it is important for students to communicate their thinking out loud, in a group setting and to their teacher.
