Profile of the Fieldwork Things “I expected” before the fieldwork:

Title of the Activity: Ocular My visit didn't quite meet my expectations in a few ways. I thought there would be transportation provided, but
Visit there wasn't. The path we took was tougher than I thought it would be. I also wished we could have worn
outdoor clothes since we were hiking. Lastly, I was hoping the barangay hall would be better prepared or open,
but it wasn't. Despite these letdowns, I still enjoyed exploring the area we will soon be partners with.

Things “I learned” during the fieldwork:
During my visit, I learned that even though local facilities weren't used much, the community was lively. People were actively playing basketball and
tennis despite the heat. It was nice to see kids still enjoying outdoor play. Plus, I learned the area was important, with essential services like a fire
department and police station nearby, making it a central spot for neighboring areas. Overall, it was great to see such a vibrant community in action.

Things “I realized” after the fieldwork
After our tough fieldwork, where we climbed stairs and dealt with steep
slopes, I realized some important things to help plan programs for the local
community. First, we noticed it's hard for people with disabilities or mobility
issues to get around. But we also saw how strong and adaptable the locals
are. They want more places to relax and play, like small parks or sports
courts. Also, there aren't enough spots for people to hang out and socialize,
so we'll make more community spaces. Our fieldwork helped us understand
what the community needs, and we'll use that to create programs that
benefit everyone.
Things “I suggest” for the next fieldwork:
I suggest before heading to such a challenging place, it's important to
plan the trip carefully, especially considering the needs of
observers/students. This means making sure everyone can participate
safely, regardless of their abilities. Once you're there, the things you
see and experience, like the tough terrain and the locals you meet,
give you valuable ideas for making the area better for everyone. This
might include making it easier to get around, and adding more fun
things to do. By thinking about these things before and during the trip,
we can make sure everyone has a great experience and learns
something valuable.
