SUBJECT : Assessment on Vehicular Incidents

DATE : June 1, 2023

1. References:
a. Reiteration on Clearing Local Roads of Encroachments and Illegal
Obstructions dated January 17, 2023;

b. Actionable Items during the PRO9 10th Regional Oversight Committee

Meeting on Anti-Illegal Drugs and E-MPO CY 2023 dated May 22,
2023; and,

c. Assessment on Vehicular Incidents in the AOR.

2. This pertains to the presentation of DRDO during the PRO9 10th Regional
Oversight Committee Meeting on Anti-Illegal Drugs and E-MPO CY 2023 dated May
22, 2023 wherein Zamboanga del Norte has the highest number of vehicular
incidents within Zamboanga Peninsula which recorded 337 from January to April
2023.

3. Based on the assessment the following are causes of vehicular incidents

in the province for the period covered from January 2023 to April, 2023:
a. Human error (under the influence of liquor); (40%)
b. Mechanical error; (6%)
c. Unlicensed driver (without seminar); (18%)
d. Weather conditions; (13%)
e. Unlighted streets; (9%) and,
f. Road under constructions (14%).

4. In this regard, you are hereby directed/advised to conduct the following;

a. Conduct massive information dissemination on RA 4136
through Recorida;
b. Strictly implement all traffic laws, including City/Municipal
Traffic Ordinances in your respective AOR;
c. Hang tarpaulin at the slow and clear highways/roads with
slogans/signages related to vehicular accidents
awareness; and,

d. Coordinate and discuss with your respective Local
Government Units (LGUs) during City/Municipal Peace and
Order Council Meeting (C/MPOC) for the installation of
street lights in unlighted streets.

5. Submit your action taken with action photos with stamp to this office (Attn:
POMU) not later than June 2, 2023.
