We are writing to express our deep concern regarding the non-

and dedication to providing quality healthcare services, interns have

compensation, recognizing the inherent risks associated with their

protect interns from financial hardship should they contract an
illness or suffer an injury while on duty.

The non-payment of hazard allowances is a serious breach of

contract and a clear indication of the hospital's disregard for the
well-being of its interns. This situation has caused significant
financial strain and emotional distress for interns 2022/2023, many

It is particularly disheartening to note that several other hospitals in

the part of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.

Nursing Visit to Payroll: 25th September 2023 and previous visits during our

stay as interns. (Audio recordings of these visits are available as
evidence of the ongoing efforts to resolve this issue).
Despite these meetings and repeated requests for payment, interns

unacceptable and demonstrates a troubling disregard for the concerns
of interns.
We urge you to immediately address this matter and ensure that all

delay. The hospital has a responsibility to prioritize the welfare of its
employees, especially those who are risking their health and safety to
provide essential healthcare services.
