A Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in Teaching English 8

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, 80% of the students should be able to:
a. analyze the main theme in the poem “Technology’s Impact: A Modern
Journey”;
b. demonstrate empathy for the perspectives presented in the poem, including both
positive and negative aspects of technology’s impact; and
c. perform a choral reading

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Technology’s Impact: A Modern Journey
Reference:

III. Instructional Materials: visual aids, handouts

IV. Approach: Questioning

V. Learning Procedure:
Routinary Activities
• Greetings
• Prayer
• Setting of classroom rules
• Checking of attendance
• Review of previous lesson.

A. Activity
• The students will be group into four and will be given a manila paper and
marker. Their tasked is to draw any technological inventions they can think of
and then present their work into the class by explaining how these technological
inventions impacted our daily living.
• The teacher will also ask the following questions to the students;
1. How does this technological innovation changed the way people
live or work?
2. Were there any challenges or negative impacts associated with
this innovation? How do people addressed these challenges?
3. In what ways do you think this innovation might continue to
evolve in the future?
4. If you could invent a new technology to address a current
challenge, what would it be and why?

B. Analysis
• The teacher will now introduce the poem “Technology’s Impact: A Modern
Journey”

“Technology’s Impact: A Modern Journey”

In the realm where science and wonder blend,

A tapestry of progress begins to ascend.
Technology, the artisan of our age,
Crafting a story on history’s stage.

In laboratories where ideas take flight,

In the glow of screens that pierce the night,
Science unfurls its vast, inquisitive wings,
A symphony of knowledge, the melody it sings.

From microcosms to galaxies afar,

Science and tech, a celestial star.
Microchips humming, data streams flow,
A dance of electrons in circuits below.

The internet weaves a global thread,

Connecting minds, where thoughts are spread.
In the digital expanse, a universe unfolds,
Where information’s currency, and insights molds.

Medicine’s miracles, a healing grace,

A doctor’s toolkit in a biotech space.
Vaccines that shield, innovations profound,
In the hands of science, health is crowned.

Robotics whir and drones take flight,

Automating tasks in the soft twilight.
Artificial intelligence, a mind’s creation,
Navigating realms with computation.

Yet, shadows loom in this dazzling light,

Ethical questions, and fears ignite.
The balance sought, a precarious dance,
In the march of progress, a cautious advance.

Environmental footprints, a challenge faced,

Innovation’s pace must be interlaced,
With eco-conscious strides and renewable might,
To sustain our planet in the advancing night.

As we peer into the future’s gaze,

Science and tech, a double-edged blaze.
The power to build, the power to mend,
Guided by wisdom , may humanity transcend.

In the alchemy of circuits and biology’s rhyme,

A future shaped by hands and minds,
May science and tech, with a conscious art,
Usher in a world where all find a part.
C. Abstraction
• The teacher will further discuss the poem.

• The teacher proceeds to question some students.

1. How does your understanding of this innovation relate to the
themes of the poem "Technology’s Impact: A Modern Journey"?
2. What is described as the artisan of our age in the poem?
3. In what places does the poem mention science taking place?
4. How is internet portrayed in the poem?
5. According to the poem, what is the dance happening in the world of
microchips?
6. What are some examples of the positive impacts of science mentioned
in the poem?
7. What cautionary notes does the poem strike about the progress of
science and technology?
8. How does the poem express the idea of a double-edged impact of
science and tech on humanity?

D. Application
• The teacher will group the students into four (4) groups to perform a choral
reading of the poem “Technology’s Impact: A Modern Journey.”
• The students will be given twenty minutes to practice their performance.
