Inspiring Action: The Essence of Great Leadership

2

Self-Reflection

Great leaders inspire action through experiences, observation, and reflection. According

to the A-O-R model, action involves actively engaging in tasks. Effective leadership involves a

dynamic interplay of action, observation, and reflection, creating a continuous cycle of growth

and learning from experiences. ( Hughes, R. L. et al., 2022).

I have experience in accounting, and in my work journey, I've met leaders who pumped

everyone up and ready to go by talking, understanding feelings, and sharing a big goal.

Whenever our department has new tasks, like preparing financial statements using new

standards, he shows others how to do it in apparent steps, which reflects the action in the A-O-R

model. He showed how important it is to align what you do with a mission that matters. The

leaders of our department weren't just about saying what we should do; they lived out a clear

vision and showed serious dedication and excitement.

I've learned that being a good leader is more than just telling people what to do. It's about

making a positive vibe, giving helpful feedback, and celebrating successes. What keeps coming

up in my experiences is the idea that personal goals should connect with the bigger mission, like,

in my case, helping the client to make the financial decision and ultimately helping the firms and

business to contribute to society, whether paying in the form of taxes or any CSR activities.

Also, I've seen how getting regular feedback regularly isn't just about keeping score – it keeps

everyone motivated.

Discussions

Talking with my buddies opened up many ideas about how leaders can get everyone

moving. One friend talked about understanding how everyone in the team feels, saying it's better

to let people take charge than try to control everything. Another buddy shared a simple plan

about having fun, trusting each other, and doing great work. They stressed having a clear mission

and ensuring everyone talks organizationally.

These chats made me see that leaders can use emotional intelligence and change their

ways to fit each person on the team. It's like they said – getting inspired is different for everyone.

So, leaders have to figure out what works for each team member. It's like a personal journey for

each one, and leaders must be ready to switch things up to match each person’s needs. Through

discussions, I gained new insights into leadership, recognizing the importance of understanding

individual team members' feelings, empowering them to take charge, and adapting leadership

approaches based on personal needs.
