DEFINITION OF THE DIFFERENT
LEVELS OF OUTCOMES
Institutional Outcomes

These are the knowledge, skills, abilities and attitude that the students are
expected to develop as a result of their overall experiences with any aspect of
the college including courses, program and student services. Furthermore,
institutional outcomes are statements of what the graduates of an educational
institution are supposed to be able to do beyond graduation.

Graduate Attributes

This refers to the qualities, skills, knowledge, and attitudes a student is

expected to develop and embody upon completing their degree program.

In other words by Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) in

the UK, defines them as "the qualities, skills, and understandings a
university community agrees its students should develop during their time
with the institution and consequently shape the contribution they can make
to their profession and society."
Program Outcomes

Program outcomes are statements conveying the intent of a program of

study. Specifically, program outcomes refer to what a student should
know or be able to do at the end of a program. They are often seen as the
knowledge and skills students will have obtained by the time they have
received their intended degree.

Course Attributes

These are brief declarations that outline the anticipated learning outcomes for
students at the end of the course. They provide an overview of the competences,
knowledge, and abilities that students should possess by the end of the learning
session. Course outcomes are usually in line with the curriculum's overarching
aims and objectives, guaranteeing consistency and applicability throughout the
learning process. They also make it easier to examine and evaluate student
performance, which aids teachers in determining how well their lesson plans and
course materials are working.
Learning Outcomes

Learning outcomes are statements that describe what learners are expected to know,
understand, or be able to do at the end of a learning experience. They articulate the
intended achievements or results of the learning process and provide a clear framework for
designing, delivering, and assessing educational activities. Learning outcomes are typically
specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART), serving as a guide for
educators to effectively plan their teaching strategies and for learners to understand what
is expected of them. These outcomes help align instructional objectives with assessment
methods, ensuring that learners acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies
to succeed in their educational pursuits.
