Estimating the Cost of Covering an Area with Artificial Grass
Objective:
Estimate the total cost of covering a designated area with artificial grass, considering
dimensions, cost per square meter of artificial grass, labor, and transportation.
Instructions:
1. Measure the Dimensions: Begin by measuring the dimensions of the field using measuring
tape. Record the length and width of the area to be covered.
2. Calculate the Area: Use the measurements obtained to calculate the total area of the field to be
covered. For a rectangular field, use the formula Area = Length × Width.
3. Estimate Cost per Square Meter: Determine the cost per square meter of artificial grass. This is
the cost you'll incur for every square meter of the field covered with artificial grass.
4. Calculate Total Cost of Artificial Grass: Multiply the total area to be covered by the cost per
square meter of artificial grass. This will give you the estimated cost of the artificial grass
needed.
5. Consider Additional Costs: Factor in other costs such as labor and transportation associated
with the installation of artificial grass.
6. Calculate Total Cost: Sum up the costs of artificial grass, labor, transportation, and any other
relevant costs to find the total estimated cost of covering the area with artificial grass.
7. Present Findings: Prepare a presentation to share your group's findings with the class. Include
details like the measured dimensions, calculated area, estimated cost per square meter, and the
total cost breakdown. The students will also talk about any obstructions or difficulties faced
while carrying out the activities and how they managed to solve them.

Given:

 Cost per 5 m2 of artificial grass = Tk. 3500

 Labor cost= Tk. 12500
 Transportation cost= Tk. 10000
 Miscellaneous Expenses= Tk. 4500
