EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN

BASIC FIRST AID

ALCOHOL

- Alcohol based hand rub steps when decontaminating hands with an alcohol-based
handrub use an amount of alcohol-based handrub sufficient to cover all surfaces of hands.
Apply handrub to palm of one hand. Rub hands together covering all surfaces of hands
and fingers. Rub until handrub is absorbed.

PBT BANDAGE

- Elastic bandages come in many different sizes and lengths. They may come with metal
clips or tape to fasten it in place. Ask your healthcare provider to show you how to wrap
the bandage. The following steps will help you wrap an elastic bandage around your
ankle. You can also wrap an elastic bandage around your knee, wrist, or elbow.

- Hold the bandage so that the start of the roll is facing up start the loose end of the
bandage on the top of your foot beneath your toes. Leave your toes out of the bandage.
Hold the loose end of the bandage in place with one hand. with the other hand, wrap the
bandage in a circle twice around your foot always wrap the bandage from outside to
inside.

BAND- AID

- Place your fingernail onto the bottom half of the bandage so it's centered. Before you
unpeel the other plastic cover, lay your fingernail on the bandage's gauze center. Position
your fingertip so it's near the bottom of the bandage. This allows you to fold the bandage
over your fingertip so the gauze covers the wound.

COTTON BUDS

- Cotton swabs are sterile pads usually used to apply antibacterial ointments or to clean the
skin around a wound. These non-fluffy swabs are highly absorbent and ideal for cleaning,
dressing, and wiping excess fluid away from wounds

ALCOHOL PAD

- Alcohol pads and antiseptic towelettes are used by health care professionals and patients
for preparation of the skin prior to injection, as well as in first aid to decrease germs in
minor cuts, scrapes and burns.

SCISSORS

- Scissors are an essential for all first aid kits. You can use them to cut bandages, dressings
and tape to size, to cut through injured people's clothes to access a wound, or to help
remove dressings so bandages can be changed

- A triangular bandage is used as an arm sling or as a pad to control bleeding. It may also
be used to support or immobilise an injury to a bone or joint or as improvised padding
over a painful injury.

MEDICINE

- People should keep at least a seven-day supply of prescription medication in a survival kit
in case of emergency, according to the CDC, since supply chains could be interrupted and
pharmacies may not be able to fill prescriptions during a crisis.
