UNIVERSAL ROBINA CORPORATION

Universal Robina Corporation (URC) is one of the largest branded consumer food and beverage
product companies in the Philippines and has a significant and growing presence in the ASEAN
markets. URC is among the Philippines' pioneers in the industry. It has been in operations for over
50 years since John Gokongwei, Jr. established Universal Corn Products, Inc, a cornstarch
manufacturing plant in Pasig, in 1954. URC is engaged in a wide range of food-related businesses,
including the manufacture and distribution of branded consumer foods and is also in
commodities. URC's brands are known and loved in the Philippines and are making their mark in
the international market as well. URC operates its food business through operating divisions and
wholly-owned or majority-owned subsidiaries that are organized into three core business
segments, namely, branded consumer foods, agro-industrial products, and commodity food
products. URC has built three strong regional brands over the years— Jack 'n Jill for snack foods,
C2 Cool and Clean for ready-to-drink tea, and Great Taste for coffee. These brands are becoming
popular across the ASEAN region.

John Gokongwei Jr., whose real name was John

Robinson Lim Gokongwei, was a well-known
businessman and entrepreneur from the Philippines.
John L. Gokongwei, Jr. founded URC in 1954 and has
been the Chairman Emeritus and Founder of URC
since January 1, 2002. He continues to be a member
of URC’s Board and is the Chairman Emeritus and
Founder of JG Summit Holdings, Inc and Robinsons
Land Corporation. He is currently the Chairman of the
Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, Inc., and a director of Cebu Air, Inc., Robinsons Retail Holdings,
Inc. and Oriental Petroleum and Minerals Corporation. He was elected a director of Manila
Electric Company on March 31, 2014. He is also a non-executive director of A. Soriano
Corporation. Mr. Gokongwei received a Masters degree in Business Administration from the De
La Salle University and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Among the well-known businesses that fall under the JG Summit umbrella are Universal Robina
Corporation, Robinsons Land Corporation, Cebu Pacific Air, and Robinsons Retail Holdings. During
World War II, he began his entrepreneurial career at an early age by trading and selling goods. His
business interests expanded significantly over the years. He established Consolidated Food
Corporation, which later merged with Universal Robina Corporation. Additionally, he ventured
into the aviation industry with the establishment of Cebu Pacific Air, and he also made substantial
investments in telecommunications through Digital Telecommunications Philippines. He built a
massive empire consisting of businesses in sectors such as food, beverage, clothing, aviation,
telecommunications, banking, energy, petrochemicals, and livestock farming. Though he
belonged to an affluent trading family, he lost all his wealth after his father’s death. Thus, in his
teens, he began trading on the streets of Cebu. He launched his first company, Amasia Trading, in
1946. Initially, he dealt in second-hand goods imported from the U.S., but after his family joined
in, he started dealing in beverages and cigarettes, too.

Lance Y. Gokongwei is the Chairman of URC. He is the President

and Chief Executive Officer of JG Summit Holdings, Inc. He is the
Chairman of Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc., Robinsons Land
Corporation, JG Summit Petrochemical Corporation, JG Summit
Olefins Corporation and Robinsons Bank Corporation. He is the
President and Chief Executive Officer of Cebu Air, Inc. He is a
director and Vice Chairman of Manila Electric Company and a
director of Oriental Petroleum and Minerals Corporation and
United Industrial Corporation Limited. He is also a trustee and
secretary of the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, Inc. He
received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied
Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Lance Y. Gokongwei is the son of Mr. John L.
