• Why do you want to study in the UK?

 The UK Universities are well-known for its high teaching quality,


research excellence, the diversity of its students, its beautiful historic
campuses and its high student satisfaction.
 Also, UK qualifications are recognized all over the world, and the
education system offered has an impressive international reputation.
 UK universities who focus on the study of Film, focus not only on the
technological side of the subject, but also the cultural and historical.
 Also, The UK has a multicultural society, with a rich diversity of
cultures, languages, and faiths.

• What are the benefits of studying in the UK compared to your home country
or USA/Canada/Australia etc.? / What research you did about Country &
Institution?

 It takes a comparatively shorter period of time to complete the course in


UK compared to other English speaking countries including India where
master program for Film is 2 years.
 Also I had compared the course modules with universities from Australia,
Canada, US before deciding on UK as my study destination.
 The reason being the courses in UK are offered with specialist technical
workshops on camera operation, sound, lighting and editing to develop
professional skills in screen-based production.
 Universities of UK are continually assessed by official bodies that grade
the standard of their research and teaching.
 Moreover, graduate students in the UK are given unique opportunities to
learn from professionals and make industry connections.

• Why did you choose to study at ABZ University?
 I choose University of Greenwich, because of its reputation in the field of
Media & Creative Arts. And University of Greenwich has been named as
one of the "most international" universities on the planet by Times Higher
Education magazine. (2016 January)
 MSc Film Production course in University of Greenwich is an
internationally recognised Master's degree in Creative Arts. The course
focuses on creative technological agendas in filmmaking.
 Also through this chosen course, I could develop a practical and
critical approach to the relationship between film production
workflows, digital film technology, and creative practice.
• How did you find out about it?
A : While making a careful research on many universities. I came cross
University of Greenwich through Gov.uk and Guardian Times ranking website
(Ranked 65). I also visited the official University website to get more
information.
• Which other colleges / universities have you considered?
Have you considered any other Universities / institutions?
A : Yes, I did consider, Leeds beckett University & Bournmouth University
apart from University of Greenwich.
If particularly asked again: Why did you choose Greenwich University over
the other two Universities?
A: The course modules were much impressive and specific to my
requirement

A : The primary site of study is located in the heart of London. Main Campus,

A: The university occupies three campuses around London offering advanced
facilities for learning, teaching and research. Based in an iconic, prosperous city
and a stunning, ambitious forward thinking country, University of Greenwich is
a great place to live, work and study.

A : Assessed by Film projects, production portfolios, critical analysis essays,
and presentations.

A : 180 credits
• What is the total tuition fees of the course you applied? A : 13,500 Pounds

 I had completed B.Sc.,Visual communication as under graduation in India
which laid me a foundation towards Media & Film Making.
 The chosen course at University of Greenwich will develop me as a
director of photography and extend my creative skills and technical
knowledge.
 With talks by industry professionals, and access to a broad range of
equipment, I’ll create a portfolio of work that will help me stand out from
the crowd.
• Can you explain the gaps in your study/professional history? NIL
A: NIL
• What is the relevance of the course to your future career path? Have you
researched your career option?
 Film Photogrpahy is my passion and I wish to begin my career as an
Assistant Cinematography.
 The course chosen in University of Greenwich will prepare me for a
career in TV or in the broader media, and help me to achieve my
designated career path within Media & Film Industry. decide which areas
of the industry attract you the most.
• Is the similar course is available in your home country? If yes, what is the fees
and what are the colleges offering?
A: The similar course is not widely available in my country. And India is far
behind in offering Studio facilities & Hands on Experience comparing to the
developed nations. Hence I had preferred UK as my study destination upon
careful research.

A: Self research within google and from various articles and journals. (Times of
India, Economic Times & India Today)
Living as a student in the UK
• How are you funding your studies?
A : Self funding supported my father.
• If you have taken out a bank loan to finance your studies, how do you intend
to repay it?
A : NIL
• What are your Father do and what is their per annum income?
A : My Father is also a Photographer by passion and he is a proprietor of
Kaviyam Digital Studio, Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. His annual annual income
is around INR 2100000.
(My mom is a home maker)
• What is the living expenses requirement per annum? And how much is
required for a month?

A : 1265 GBP per month as per UKVI (UK Visa & Immigration)

• What is the total amount required to meet your maintenance / living


expenses in UK? / How much is required to meet your Maintenance or living
expenses in UK.
A : : GBP 11,385 as per UKVI

• How much is the total money available for your education & living in UK?
How have you managed the tuition fee and living expenses in UK?
A : A Sum of GBP 12500 has been paid to the University towards full tuition
Fees and maintaining a savings balance of INR 11,65,000 to cover my living
expenses in UK.
• Funding Details, Source of Funds? How did you get the money into your
account?
A : These are savings of my father from his earnings, which was reserved for
my higher education.
• Does the funds will be available to you upon arriving in UK.

A : yes, it will be available and I will get it transferred to an account which will
be opened in UK for better access.

• Where do you intend to live while you are in the UK?


A : within University Accommodation
• Have you already arranged University accommodation or halls or residence?

A : I had completed the initial formalities for University accommodation and I


reserved a place for me in Greenwich University Halls of Residence, Cutty Sark
Hall, King William Walk, London SE10 9HT. I was asked to contact the
accommodation team upon obtaining the Visa to organise the remaining
formalities. ((Standard total is £6,165.60 for 40 weeks.))

A : Greenwich University, Halls of Residence, Cutty Sark Hall, King William

• Why did you choose to stay in University Accommodation?
A : Since I come from a different country leaving my home city, I feel the
University accommodation will be much safer there will be proper guidance
given by the University.
• How far is it from the University?

A : A: Approx 5 minutes walkable distance

• What mode of transport you will prefer to travel to the University?


A : I prefer a walk as it is located very close to the campus.

• If you have dependents travelling with you, what will they be doing while you
are studying : No dependents.

• Do you intend to work in the UK during your studies? (Part Time Job)
I am not interested to work part-time during my studies. The chosen program
is very important in my career and hence wanted to concentrate my studies
more effectively. Moreover, I have a sufficient savings to cover my living
expenses during this period.

o If so, do you know how many hours you would be permitted to work
under Tier 4?
A : 20 hours per week under Tier 4 visa.
Your Future
• What do you intend to do after finishing your course?
A : After completing my studies, I wish to beagin my career as Assistant
Cinematography with I Film Industry or Media related organisation in India.
• If you intend to return home to seek employment, which companies do you
hope to apply to?

A : I had spent a quality time on researching various course options within India
and other English speaking countries offering MBA and was getting prepared to
join the chosen course in UK.
