Q: 1. Why do you wish to study overseas particularly in the UK and why not continue your
study in your home country?
The UK degree is well respected and recognised worldwide. UK universities have decades
of experience dealing with international students. The UK is a multicultural and diverse
country. British people are welcoming towards people from different backgrounds and
cultures.
The reason I did not choose my home country for my post-graduation is in my country it will
take 3-5 years for post-graduation whereas in the UK it will take 1 year. My country's
qualifications are not recognised globally. There are not enough places available for
general physicians who want to pursue a career in their preferred subject.
(Please talk about limited seats for MS, MD etc). In Bangladesh teaching methods are
traditional and not focused on practical knowledge. However, in the UK students are
encouraged to think independently and critically.
Q: 2 What are the benefits of studying and obtaining a qualification from the UK compared
to other overseas study options like the United states, Canada or Australia? Or
Why have you chosen to study in the UK over other popular study destinations such as
Canada, Australia or USA?
In the USA, Canada, Australia postgraduate degrees are quite expensive compared to the
UK. Also, the cost of living is also expensive in those countries. However, the southern part
of the UK is expensive in terms of cost of living but my university is situated in the
north-west part which is well affordable. Also, in the USA, Canada most of the MSc
programmes for physicians are 2 years or more.
● Courses in the UK education system are shorter and more intensive than many
other countries without compromising on quality.
● In Australia, USA and Canada Post-graduation usually takes two years or more.
However, in the UK it will take only a year for my post-graduation. So, I am not only
saving my time, but also saving a large amount of money spent on tuition fees and
living costs.
● In addition, UK universities Application processes are simple and have a number of
flexible intakes compared to the USA, Canada. Also, you need less documentation
during your UK visa application compared to the USA and Canada. Note: (less
documentation) police clearance certificate, source of fund, these documents are
not mandatory during UK visa application.
Q: 4 Which are the other universities you consider or apply to and why have you chosen
University of Chester over those other Universities?
While searching on the internet I found a few options for MSc in ……. such as….
Mention at another two universities and includes the one you are going to attend.
Compare between tuition fees, Location, Modules etc.
Q: 5 What have you been doing since the time you were in your last full time education
and why now have you decided to return to full time education?
I have been working as a General Physician for many years. At this point in my career I
feel that I need more upgraded knowledge to work in the modern clinical environment.
Also, to get promoted to consultant position I need a post-graduation. Besides, over the
years I have saved enough money for my post-graduation. Therefore, I believe this is the
perfect time for me to pursue a postgraduate degree.
Q: 6 Explain how the course will benefit your career and what are your future
career aspirations?
This course aims to inform and equip me with the necessary skills to function in a modern
biomedical/clinical environment specialising in caring for the patient with …... problems.
This course also emphasises employability skills, embedding a range of professional and
practical skills in all of the modules. After completing this course, I can help those
patients in my country who suffer from …... problems as there are a lack of professionals
in this particular sector.
In addition you have to mention about getting a promotion after completing this course,
future plan and other activities you want to do once you return to your home country.
Q: 7 What impact will completion of course at University of Chester will have on your future
income?
At present, as a medical officer, I am getting around £450 per month as a fixed salary. Also
doing private practice outside my working hours, I also earn around £500 per month. Once
complete this degree, I will be promoted as a junior consultant where starting salary would
be around £2000 - £2500 per month. Also I can carry on doing my private practice as
usual.
Q: 9 What evidence do you intend to submit as part of your Tier 4 student visa
application to demonstrate that you have the required funds to study in the UK?
I am going to submit my bank statement from UKVI approved financial institutions and
the fund is available in my personal account already.
While browsing through the internet I found a couple of choices for my MSc. I visited
Chester University’s official website. I have gone through their social media pages and
found some great feedback about the University.
