In the writing part of the exam, there will be questions on one of which you will write a paragraph.
However, it is essential for you to use the structures you learned in CWP Weeks 1-5; that’s why, it is
beneficial for you to work on exercises below.

Exercise 1. Subject-Verb Agreement

Identify the subject of the sentence and circle the correct form of the verb in parenthesis.

1. Nearly half of Americans (read/reads) some type of book according to a recent poll.

Exercise 2. Compound Sentences

Exercise 3. Time Order Signal Words

A. Underline the connectors in the following text.

How to make an omelette.


First of all, beat the eggs, the salt and the pepper in a small bowl until blended. Then heat the
butter in a frying pan. Pour the eggs into the pan and immediately shake the pan to distribute
the eggs evenly. After that, cook until the eggs are just runny in the centre. Next, run a spatula
carefully around the edge of the pan to free the omelette. Finally, use the spatula to fold the
omelette in half then slide it from the pan on to a plate and serve immediately.

B. Put the sentences into the correct order and underline the connectors.

Animals in Captivity1

Animals in modern zoos have several advantages; 1___________, they also suffer some
