REFLECTION

Read the Parable of the Prodigal Son. What is the message of the parable in relation to human acts?

THE PARABLE OF THE PRODIGAL SON

A father had two sons. The younger took his share of his father’s property and left home.
He wasted all his money in sinful living. He came to his sense only after a severe famine struck
the land where he lived. It made him think of the abundance of food and drink in his father’s
house. Thus, he decided to go back home and ask forgiveness.
The father saw his son coming back home. He welcomed him warmly. He neither asked
any questions, nor scolded his son. On the contrary, he gave him the finest robes, put ring on his
finger and shoes on his feet. These were all signs that the son was accepted again as a member of
the family. The father had forgiven his son and made him feel at home again.
A big party was held to celebrate the homecoming of this prodigal son. Then entered the
eldest son into the picture. He was very angry. He could not forgive his younger brother and
complained to his father. It was the father who tried to persuade the eldest son to forgive his
brother and to accept him again.

In the story, the son does an act of humans where he takes half of his father’s property
although his father is still alive, and leaves their house and spends it on useless things while his
one brother helps his father, and the time comes all of his portions were all gone he came back
to his father’s house, and the father did was human act although his son forsakes Him his still
waiting and accept his son nevertheless what he have done to him.
