Reading
Hi, my dear friend. The story that I’m going to tell you just
at this moment occurred in this town, in Caldas, in La
Valeria.
If you listen to me carefully, I mean that if you don’t
interrupt me, as usual, you will know why nature never
forgives. Sit down close to me but put on your mask, I
have mine here, and pay attention to me.
There was a family which was made up by a father, a
mother and three cute children and a teenager. The
teenager whom I refer to is my classmate. That family
lived near the brook whose name is Quebrada La Valeria.
The father used to buy old things, for example, flasks,
bottles and any kind of used gadgets. He sold them and
with the money he tried to feed his family.
The problem was that whenever he found that something
didn’t help him to get money, he used to throw it into the
brook. So, he threw the debris, the rotten mattresses, all
the junk that he was not able to sell and any kind of
objects which were not necessary to him.
One day his older son invited me to visit them and when I
saw what his father was doing, I acted like a meddlesome
individual and I warned him that it was extremely
dangerous since the rain could make the brook grow up
and the water is extremely dangerous when it’s blocked by
a strange barrier. Nevertheless, the father stared at me as
though I were an alien creature and alleged that he had
done the same thing along several years and, he added
harshly, that up to now nothing had happened. There is a

matter is that everybody was sleeping like a top because
