Nano-chameleon is about the size of a sunflower seed. It fits on the tip of a finger and
may be the smallest reptile on Earth. Officially known as Brookesia nana, the new species
survives on a diet of mites and springtails, which it hunts down in leaf litter.
The male Brookesia nana has a body of just 13.5mm. This makes it the smallest of about
11,500 known species of reptiles, according to the Bavarian State Collection of Zoology in
Munich. Its length from tip to tail is 22mm. The female is far bigger, at around 29mm.
